Has anyone here ever tried to program their own game or edit an existing one? If so, which one? And has it ever been released?
As some of you might know (the two people who visit my blog ::)) I started programming for the atari 2600 through Visual Batari BASIC
Also working on editing Spear of Destiny now.
The closest thing I've ever come to that was making a GameMaker game. :P & I didn't even succeed in that! :o
But I have plans... I have plans...(http://www.websitegoodies.com/smilies/evilgrin0041.gif) MWAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAA!
I also romhack/translate
Oh man, the days of GameMaker. My friends and I made a "game studio" and "wrote" a few games. Nostalgic.
Also, sorta worth mentioning, I recently I made a Super Mario World mod called "Super Merioh in Nazi Land" where you play as a US soldier "Merioh" battling your way though Nazi Germany. :P
By the way, anybody ever toyed around with ZZT? I made a few games in that before I discovered game maker.
Oh yeah, ZZT was awesome.
I started coding a couple of shmups (because they're easy to make), but never got around to completing any of them. I also do some rom hacking, but haven't released anything.
Well, I did release a patch for Code Name: Viper that adds pants to the player sprite: http://www.ximwix.net/boneyard/design19/xb/cnv.htm (http://www.ximwix.net/boneyard/design19/xb/cnv.htm)
Hey, that looks like a better idea than the Girl Hack: :D

Love the BSOD screens in the background ;D
Nice avatar, too, but the player sprite needs an outline.
I used MultimediaFusion ages ago to make a game that I never really completed, though my brother made tons including Ben the Lost Blueberry, which is now sort of famous.
I romhack NES, SNES, and Game Boy and most of my work can be seen at GSCentral and mainly tcrf.net. I have plans to make a full fledged SNES game someday when I actually manage to get my thoughts together and such.
Has anyone heard of fuzebox? It's an open source 8-bit console. You can program the games in C! http://www.ladyada.net/make/fuzebox/ (http://www.ladyada.net/make/fuzebox/)
^ Did . not . know. that! :o
Maybe I'll be able to release Space Death on an actual console? ::)
Any limitations off the top of your head?

I have a Uzebox of course its the really older version of it, it uses SNES controller ports also. I dont much use it or like it, but it did only cost like $30.
Whats the real difference between uzebox and fuzebox?
@jedi not that i know of! I hope to port my earlier atari project to this, although i hardly leanred BASIC, let alone C!

Why? It looks interesting and easy on the site.
Emulation? Are you talking about the NES ports? Or does it emulate the C programs?
I've made complete Final Fantasy and Super Mario World hacks, and now I am using Megazeux (The spiritual successor to ZZT) to make an original RPG (which is a remake of one I made back in 1997). Not sure if I'll ever get it finished though.
ive never tried to make a game i did however tinker with visualBB but it screwed me in the ass and didnt want to work
