How rare is a version 2 cart? I have been looking for one for a while and they never seem to pop up...

IIRC, the R1 and R2 carts look identical. You have to boot the system to read the release number, or perhaps it is noted on the PCB or ROMs..

Was the Version 2 cart ever sold separately? Or did it just come with later versions of the Family Basic set?

As far as I know V2 wasn't sold separately.

how much does family basic usually go for, it looks pretty neat and ive been wanting to get it if the price is right

usually like $75 to $150 on ebay. it varies. you can usually snag it for cheaper on auctions, but the BINs are mostly above $100.

i got mine for $50 on ebay from a fellow canadian, so the shipping was dirt cheap. i was the only bidder.

these are for complete sets.

ive seen a boxed keyboard on risingstuff but the '1 pound shipping rule' is now implemented so there goes my hopes of getting it from japan
