In my opinion, Celestia is the best out there. It's the most accurate and up-to-date space simulation ever, with gigantic forum for discussing, countless wonderfull addons (I was using it for ortophoto earth overview even before the Google-earth appeared) and script support for educational purposes.
One of my favourite addons is the star database - adds much more stars to Celestia (the software has only about 14000 in the installation package, but you can exchange the database with this - over 200 000 one):

(although this bigger database has some location errors, I don't think you'll ever notice  ;D)

I looked on that website and was tickled to see add-ons for Star Trek star systems!  ;D  Those would be interesting to actually see!
