Musical differences, sprite differences, dungeon layouts are also different. The Second Quest is incomplete.
:o Nice christmas present for the retro gaming community.
Hah! I was plodding around over there yestereve, and looking at the LoZ 1st Party Proto board, thinking 'it would be so interesting to examine this', so instead, I get a beta disk image. Cool. :)
I still have to contact (I think it's Jason?) about the LoZ board to ask for the price on a dump.
Very nice indeed. I know what I'll be doing in a little while...
smashing news.

possible for you to read side 1 and 2 to MGD1 format?
Wow, that's awesome. :o
Great stuff! Downloaded it without thinking twice!~
I have also put up videos on Youtube showcasing many of the differences between the final release and this prototype. I never come across these prototypes like so many other people do. >:( Guess I need to look harder.

;D I saw that first video yesterday.
I'm going to have to write this to disk to check for sound differences to the normal release. If one we could get our mitts on a Rev A (or maybe earlier) with the boomerang or sword room on screen one. It has to exist, somewhere and I've always wondered if the boomerang was any different in that version.
Obviously, if the game was much easier, then perhaps the enemies that were weaker (e.g. Octorocks) did in fact used to be killable with either weapon. This is just another great example of how many changes go into a game even after it's seemingly ready to make it more challenging.
