Are you sure you got a real Famicom? To me it sounds more like you have a clone system. (Or a previous owner ook out the switches?  ???)
Pics for us to look at would help a lot in such cases.

Looks like a well built clone to me. Here's what a normal system should look like:

Obviously, there are no switches in the holes on your one and there's no text for the missing switches on the black sticker.

That's really odd.  The system (on the outside, anyway) looks official in every way.  I have no idea why those switches would be missing unless the previous owner took them out for whatever reason (possibly to modify it at a later time?) Hmm...

Edit: One more thing.  Is there a microphone and switch on the second controller?

Wow, that's weird...
It looks legit, but the missing switches are mysterious.
Even if somebody took them out, the sticker would normally still have the markings for TV/GAME and CH1/CH2.

I guess the only way to be completely sure is to get Count Bleck to disassemble the machine and take a look at the area where the switches should be. If the solder points are non-existent or have no solder residue on them, then I'd suppose it was a pirate. The chips would also stick out like a sore thumb if the system is pirated.

If the previous owner just removed the switches, then the solder holes should have blotchy / sloppy leftover solder on them.

It's probably a very well made clone.
The underside usually looks a bit different from that in your pic. At least all mine look different.

Either like this:

Well, unless you open it up, there's really no way to confirm that it even fully works.  If the physical switches are missing on the outside, the components on the inside may be stuck to a certain way (say for example, the TV/game switch may be stuck in the TV position), so you wouldn't even be able to get it to send a signal to the TV in the first place.

I'd also say open it up and take pics of the inside to be sure.

I agree with Manuel. Pics of the PCBs inside would help determine if it will work and/or can be fixed as well as whether or not it's a real Famicom console.

Maybe is an official famicom with the Hong Kong PAL Mod, with that BUNG RF replacement.
I bought a couple of famicoms like that

im no expert at identifying an original motherboard but I notice the stickers on the front and top are in Chinese, not Japanese.. AFAIK the stickers on the HK model are in English, but I believe there was an official model released in Taiwan (although not for very long before clones took over the market), maybe that's what it is?
