Title: What makes Zelda Twilight Princess for Gamecube so good to receive 10 out of 10?
Post by: FamicomRetroGamer on January 19, 2011, 02:57:23 pm
A few months back I had the game for about 3-4 days before returning (its condition wasn't very good), and I played it, it was fun like riding horses, controlling the sheeps (I may be confusing with another game), discover the world of it.

I didn't got too far with only 3 days of it so had no chance of enjoying.

I would've kept the copy if the condition stayed as the seller said it were.

On eBay I could get a good price for it. I'll cost more than the black NGC boxed + 4 games I just bought (18.25 GBP), the game rounds about 30 GBP.

I couldn't get into it.  Hate to say it, but it was boring.

On the contrary, I loved Wind Waker, my favorite in the whole series.

Not sure what it was but i just couldn't do Twilight Princess... it felt so mundane, really, to be playing.

I didn't even get to Wind Waker.  By the end of Majora's Mask, I felt the series was repeating the same patterns gameplaywise, & playing the games felt more like tedious chores.

With that said, I still liked Majora's Mask story-wise.

I don't know, someday I might watch someone do a Let's Play of the two games. :-\

majoras mask definantly had a great story (not trying to suck up to it being it is my favorite game) but TP's is quite compeling

I'm also quite fond of TP. I'm playing through the GC version right now. I love the Hawkeye attachment for the bow. That's awesome. Sniping the arrow shooting guards off their towers is great.

Thanks.

I'll buy Z:TP NGC edition instead of some recent gen game.

It's been about 4 years since I've played this game(Wii version), so I can't really remember why I loved it. Someday I need to replay this.

Wasn't the Wii version "mirrored" or badly done?

Well, many consider the GCN version to be the mirrored one. There's really nothing about either one that makes the other better.

Edit* Oops, yeah, the Wii version is the one that's considered to be mirrored.  But still, it doesn't make much of a difference.

But isn't Link already left-handed in the GC one?

It'd be awkward if the NGC version would be mirrored, because Z:TP was originally released for NGC not Wii.

Not that I've got myself an NGC (black colour + boxed), I'll be bidding on a copy of Z:TP in sometime.

Not true, the Wii version was a launch title in November of 2006 while the Gamecube version was released in December of that year. It was originally developed for the Gamecube, but the Wii version took precedence.

But still, the original version is the Gamecube one, and the Wii version was mirrored. It doesn't really affect gameplay, so it doesn't matter, though (at least to me).

The new Wii one looks like it will be more appealing for me. Skyward Sword.. that's suppose to come out this year right?

I loved TP and for me it's definitely the best in the series.  Not a lot of people agree with me on that but I played Ocarina late and I think it's too hard as well.  For me, I really got into TP as soon as I got Epona (the start is slow) and I really loved the extra details in the temples, the new abilities and generally attention to detail throughout the whole art direction.  For me it's the best because I played it at launch, on a new console for days straight over Christmas.  I was totally in that zone and finsihed everything wheras on Ocarina I came to it years later so it looked tired, seemed hard and I didn't get that wow factor from seeing a 3D Zelda for the first time.  I played it before Wind Waker but on the GC collection after Wind Waker was already a year old or so.

Skyward Sword looks interesting but the novelty of the controls has more than faded and I don't like the bright visual style so much.  Having said that, I'm still hyped for it and will seriously be booking a few days of work to play through and digest it.

Yes, the Wii version was mirrored but for good reason.  Most people are right handed and got confused by seeing a sword in the left hand and controlling it with the right.  I played through the Wii version and loved it, I don't think it makes any difference if it was mirrored, it actually always annoyed me that Link was left handed - why should he be?  It's odd when you think about it because for a long time across most of asia leftys were ostracised for reasons I won't go into.

In terms of the GC version, the plus points are being able to play without moving your arms, but I like the arrow effects of the remote speaker, the cleaner GUI and the quicker aiming etc.  That's just me, but I wouldn't place extra worth on one version over the other just to play it through (the GCN version is obviously rarer and worth more).

Oh, someone mentioned above but yes the Wii version was deliberately released first (a few weeks or so) to spur on early adopters for the Wii.  It worked :)
