DAMN! Show us more! Did you get any games with it?
No games yet. :/ The store didn't get any in the afternoon, maybe in the evening they said.
I think I'll buy Prof. Layton tomorrow. (I have a lot of points on my Yamada Denki point card, so basically I could get it for free if they have it in stock.)
What other pics would you like to see?
Well I wanted to see some running app or game, and also you can do photos of the sides and bottom.
OK!
I'll try to take some pics from the AR games later. And the sides and bottom of course!
BTW, the color looks much better than expected. It's totally beautiful. :o
Wow that's awesome!
I'm going out tomorrow amongst the game stores, so maybe I'll get a chance to check one out. Didn't realize it was coming out tomorrow!
More pics!

Fantastic !!! [..falling from the chair...]
Thanks for the effort, I'm seriously thinking about getting one in the near future.
So those two cameras on the front are for 3D shooting? SO those pictures with those cards are "movable" (do they have the 3D properties)?
Yes, you can shoot pics in 3D. ;D The effect is limited, but visible.
I hope there will be more AR cards in the future, maybe packed with new games, or in gashapon machines or something.

Manuel, how much was your 3DS?
I'm not gonna get one in Japan, but today I was out and I had seen them going for 28000yen... Aren't they suppose to be 25000yen?

What you saw was a rip-off reseller 3DS. The normal price is 25000 Yen, that's what I paid for it.
That's not cool. This was at two different reputable stores too.
So did you get any games yet?
Looks good but not a big improvement for the DS franchise.
*checks out pics*
:o SWEEET!! Love that metallic blue color!
I would seriously get one if there's any new games that catch my eye. Problem is, my brain can't quite handle 3D that well - 5 minutes of looking at a 3D TV makes me nauseated, same as playing 3D/polygonal games on PS2 for more than half an hour. I heard there's an option to turn the 3D effects off. Is that true? I haven't really followed the 3DS release, so I have no clue.

Yes there is. There's a slider (sort of like a volume slider) that allows you to fully control the "amount" of 3D present in the games.
Yes, as dork said, you can turn the 3D off at any time. Absolutely no problem.
Manuel is the shop online in your 3DS?
No.
The shop and everything with it will be available at the end of May in a worldwide firmware update. Meh. :-\
I was quite looking forward to download some games, but this will have to wait 3 months as it seems.
Looking forward to finally playing Shantae Risky's Revenge (http://sae.tweek.us/static/images/emoticons/emot-awesome.gif)

Oh, I got my four new 3DSs on Friday - these are different!
They are half chrome / black with red anodised detailing. These are development units, but I'm not sure what they can do that regular units cannot do yet.
If they're region free units able to run unsigned code (like PS3 'test') then this makes them quite exciting I think.
Forgive me not posting pictures, I'd get hung, drawn and quartered.
[UPDATE] I don't need to worry, these guys have pictures that I can link to:

When I first saw your post I thought about IS Nitro kits,I wonder if the 3DS will have something similar.
Edit.
Guess Nintendo does have one called PARTNER-CTR DEBUGGER/CAPTURE.
Yes they have capture kits - can capture 2D or 3D pictures and video - I will have one soon :)

[IMPORTANT UPDATE]
Do NOT use a flashcard in your 3DS, at least until there's some clarification - see here:
http://kotaku.com/5779454/nintendo-is-so-not-screwing-around-with-3ds-piracy
Nice, let me know how the capture kit performs.
I guess this is our 3DS thread?
I finally got a chance to use the 3DS for a few minutes at the local Target. Played a quick fly-around in Pilotwings Resort (into the volcano, yeah!). The 3D effects didn't blow me away, but I toggled between 2D and 3D a few times just to compare and I think the 3D gives it a nice graphical improvement. Like, it looked better in the same way a higher resolution or sharper textures make a game look better.
I am really amazed how the 3DS works :) Yes, I'm a proud owner of the Cosmo black version now :D and happily trying everything that is possible so far (prior to the upcoming update).
The only thing that's sad is that the StreetPass (exchanging data between 3DSes) is counting with the actual possibility of meeting other people having this console in their possesion when walking the streets, in "sleep mode" and with StreetPass turned on. Maybe this thing works in Japan or USA, but in my town, I'm probably the only one and I would be amazed if this situation changes in the upcoming year.
I'm hoping that adding friends over the internet will be actually usefull after the update. (Anyone cares to exchange friend's numbers? PM!)
BTW did anyone tried to download DS demos using Wii? Are those games being deleted after shutting down the "Download Play" application? If not, where can I find them?
I've had mine since launch and it has a very loose hinge... :'(
Instead of PMs, why don't we make a public list so everybody can add everybody?
Would you all be up for that?
Well I'm for the public list, there was also a Wii topic before with some public Wii numbers so I'm guessing it won't hurt. I would even be for an idea of adding Wii and 3DS numbers to the profile page...

Don't worry, that's a worldwide problem, it's usually only the left hinge (you can tell when you close the 3DS and try to move the upper part a bit, you will probably notice the problem only on the left side). Mine's also a bit loose.
I'm just glad that the hinge (the left one on my 3DS also) didn't become loose because of me handling it wrong.
Yeah, I can't believe how low quality these are. Anyhow, I've registered you guys... Here's my info:

What exactly is that supposed to mean? In a literal sense, the 3DS had quite a few titles at launch, and I know of at least three that are really fun games.
So I checked out the amazon list. All of the titles was just ports, even the "Bit Trip" game. Makes me think about how over the years while games have been perfectly ported down, and up to various systems, it takes the actually fun out of playing the ports, due to it's perfection.
I am thinking back to the Gameboy days, when you one version, with an entirely differnt or simular story, and you could play them all without never having the same exprience.
I have found a great Polish site
http://streetpass.com.pl/
which is collecting data about 3DS owners all over Poland... Of course I have joined in, because it's one of a kind site and a great idea to find out about 3DS owners in case you want to make use of streetpass feature. I only hope the Polacks won't be against other nationality members joining there...
Thinking about what RegalSin just said, I thought StreetFighter 3D was a bit like that. I play with an arcade stick on console, but still felt like a new game on 3DS using the buttons and control scheme. Yes it's an inferior port, but the figurine mode was cool and the 3D was good for a while.
I'm not buying a 3DS yet as I want to wait for the Nintendo games, but I may hang on for a special edition machine too. If they nail Gameboy emulation in 3D, then I'm getting one for sure.
The big firmware update bringing with it the e-shop and a browser will hit Japan on June 7 and NA on the afternoon of June 6.
I gave Joystiq and Kotaku a tip. Joystiq said "Thanks Manuel" and Kotaku not. >:(

This is being called a delay, but Nintendo have always given the time frame of late May - early June.
For me it's a 3 month delay, though. I wanted the e-shop at launch. :(
So is Dead or Alive out on 3DS yet?
Actually, what all has come out in the last month?

Is SE cooking up anything interesting?
A Secret of Mana remake would be awesome. :gamer:
Umm sorry, that's not my magazine... It's just an article I found.
Instead of just remaking, the previous "Sonic" games, they decided to intergrate "various" areas into past games. Now it is in, 3d. talk about desperate.
Why not just make a 3d game for the Sega Saturn?
So where is Knuckles in all of this? Will they show his past self wearing a Sun hat, with the word "Mon" at the end of every sentence ( like in the guide book ).
Maybe Knuckles instead will not have his club music, super cool beat Sonic3 anymore. Way to not stereotype for this new release.
.........................
About that "Holy Sword of :star:" game.. I hate to say it, but a new Kingdom Hearts games, will make the fans engerized. I don't even know why people still play the games.

We have a few things planned for 3DS - there's an announcement tomorrow actually ;)
So? Is the update here? OR WHAT?!
No, not yet (at least in Japan). :/
Updating right now! Everybody and their grandmother is updating, so the progress bar is moving very slowly. Might be a full hour before my 3DS finishes it's update.
Thanks for the alert, this time I'll definatelly plug in the power adapter in before updating! Let us know when it finishes!
I will try to update here in Europe this afternoon (still 8 hours untill I can get to my 3DS)...
Posting from my iPho... 3DS!
The download sped way up and did not take as long as I thought it would!
So far the internet browser seems to be very smooth with little lag. So far I've only visited FW, so we shall see.
Yeah, the 3DS browser works quite well so far.
VC is nice too. Downloaded Super Mario Land and beat it already. (Was it really that short? :P )
I'm taking my time with Super Mario Land. Did you know you can change the view to make it look like you're playing on a gameboy if you hold down "select" while you start the application?
I saw that in a Joystiq video an hour or so ago. It's a very neat touch. :D
I agree, and I prefer the actual game resolution to the crappy enlarge filter they've placed when you play it normally. It's just so ugly! You think they would put in an option to make it nice and blocky, but still fullscreen. I think it's called nearest neighbor filtering, but I'm not sure.
Hey hey in Europe went the update okay (on cca 12th try) some 3 hours ago! The Ocarina trailer looks fantastic in 3D!
Why would they block the shop in Switzerland? Seems like a very dumb idea to me...
Any reason behind this?
They said it's a server overload. I don't believe them as some people near the border of the country could access it easily. Nintendo isn't in Switzerland so the connections goes in Germany or France servers I think. They just blocked the Swiss IP for a while. It'll be unlocked but I don't know when.
Only english site that talks about it: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=433001
Zelda DX is available!!! Woooot!
How much does Zelda cost on the European eShop? I guess 6 Euros?
Zelda OOT on 3ds...........seriously, when that game was out, I was going insane over the graphics, the fishing game, and the character design. Of course their was the slutress fairies, I mean wow!

Amazing I almost made a tingle!!
Cause my country has no support, I have set it to UK. So the price for Zelda DX was £5.40. I hate the credit system, I had to buy a minimum of £10...
That really sucks.
So you're UK region... that's interesting to know. Were there other countries you could choose?
I think it would be possible to choose any country, I have tried Germany and it worked, it probably doesn't matter that much. My Wii is also set for UK and my club nintendo is UK too.
I never had problems buying or registering.
BTW agree on the OOT Fairies Regalsin :D

...just having fun typing from my 3DS browser :D
BTW Zelda DX is really cool! Playing like
UK prices are like 50% on top of US in terms of exchange rate - Donkey Kong is $4, but £3.60 in UK. $4 is under £2.50 right now...
OOT is almost delivered! I'm sooo excited. :)
As well with the rest of you i agree with the faries, zelda, malon, and cucco lady/anju on the improved graphics of the 3DS ::)
I performed the "big" update on my 3DS on Sunday, breaking it out for the first time in awhile, since I thought I was going to get Zelda, and downloaded Excitebike and some 3D Pokedex for free. I haven't spent any money in the e-shop yet, but when I do, I'm going to get Zelda DX and Donkey Kong. Is Super Mario Land available on the e-shop in America? I may have just overlooked it, but I didn't see it.
I saw the 0.00 on the "balance" on all the games and thought they were free, i quickly learned otherwise
I'm playing my 3D Zelda for some time now, really enjoying the experience, and I'm already pass the point where I was able to get on my N64 back in the days. One thing annoys me on my 3DS though...last week I was walking through our capital city with my 3DS turned on for the street-pass mode. I have made (according to my 3DS) 17500 steps through various shopping centres, gaming shops and places where a lot people meet, but I haven got a single street-pass notification, not a single one! No connection to anybody in the biggest city of Slovakia! (and found out that DS/DSi games are still around 50€ a piece around here, even though the system is outdated now...outrageous!)
So a nice idea, when you expect people actually buying the system in large quantities, but a horrible idea to think that cca 250-300€ is a price that will atract anybody.
Yeah, it's a shame that StreetPass is so useless anywhere outside of a Japanese subway or a videogame convention.
3DS related: did you know there's a Game & Watch styled game in the "3DS Sound System"? Start playing a song and then change the visualization (tap the pullstring) until the soccer/football field visualizer shows up. Then move the circle pad and it'll start a game. Try to keep the ball(s) in the air!
StreetPass is only good in big American and Japanese cities I guess.
I've got my 3DS since February and I took it everywhere. Since then I have met exactly 27 unique people. :/ I've heard you can get that on one day in Tokyo.
Iwata is taking a 50% pay cut to handle the price drop of the 3DS. I don't have to look into my crystal ball to tell you how I think this will turn out.
That's one problem solved (too expensive), and the first-party games coming out around the holidays will fix the other (no games).
I wonder how high is salary is to begin with. :coin: :coin: :coin:
It's nice to see that at least some execs from big companies have a bit of decency left in them. *ahem... bankers and the like who give themselves million $ bonuses when writing red numbers... ahem*
At the new price 3DS should be selling a lot better.
Yeah I'm picking up mine come August 12th !! WOOHOO!
That price makes me want one. :-\
I'm waiting on another DSLite price cut. :)
Yes, I'm behind. :(
Ohsawella! GBASP in the meantime. :gamer:

Well, he probably (usually) earns more than his salary from dividend on his stock. :mario:

That's one problem solved (too expensive), and the first-party games coming out around the holidays will fix the other (no games).
Well yeah, but they shouldn't have to lose money to keep their product alive. I love the hardware, but I think it was released too soon. Imagine OOT 3D as a launch title...
Yeah, the launch was strangely early. Zelda at launch would have made a lot of sense. So would, you know, maybe having their online infrastructure in place before launching.
Say, can you watch 3D Blu-ray videos on your 3DS with the actual 3D?
Its 3D feature really isn't what would make me buy it but the games, though, I'm more inclined for a DS Lite or a DL XL. ;D

Nope. The 3DS's resolution is nowhere near 1080p.
They added a video service recently that shows random 3D videos and they occasionally show movie trailers. Dunno if they'll ever offer a way to watch full movies in 3D. They have a Netflix program now, but the video isn't 3D.

No, but I don't see why you would need 1080p resolution on a 3.5 inch screen. Standard definition on portable consoles is enough when the screens are still that size, and if they got considerably bigger where the difference between high definition and standard definition would be noticeable, they wouldn't be anywhere close to portable.
Even with the price cut I have no intentions of buying a 3DS.
I'll buy when they do a VirtualBoy special edition one.
3DS's a great portable gaming machine but it arrived on the wrong time, it should've been on the market since PSP 1 because it's a balanced rivalry, now with PS Vita, PSV just blows 3DS away completely software/hardware.
The games for 3DS been released have been somewhat weak, so not interested on wasting money on a console that doesn't have many or the ones I want.
Hell, even the regular DS beats 3DS in terms of library of games, regardless of the graphics, there's shovelware but also a ton of fun quality games (Dragon Ball, Super Mario, Mario Kart, Castlevania.. 2D games).
Now, I'm not anti-3DS it still has to achieve its potential and release the best of it, for this to happen, Nintendo needs to step up.
Rivalry doesn't have to be balanced.
See DS vs. PSP.

Let me know the next time you see a console that was released five months ago that has a better library than a console that was released six years ago.
Exactly! (Go, Dork!! :D)

Oh joy, more ports of PS3 games. No thanks.
Also, I'm not bashing the PS Vita. I'm actually intrigued by it's hardware, and if it has some cool, original games, then I'll be sure to get one too. However, I can assure you the PS Vita will
not have a better library at launch than the PSP or the DS has now. That's just...common sense.
Maybe the US Vita launch lineup will be pretty good since it won't be released here until 2012, months after it launches in Japan.
The 3DS will have a good lineup this holiday season. The Vita will have a good lineup by the 2012 holiday season.
So what's everybody with a 3DS up to these days? Is there any new info about NES virtual console games comming soon? The ambassador programme with free games giveaway caught big attention and here is the list of available and upcoming NES titles:
Excitebike (3D) -available
Xevious (3D) - available
Urban Champion (3D) - I think in Japan already available
Balloon Fight
Donkey Kong Jr.
Ice Climber
Super Mario Bros.
The Legend of Zelda
So what do you think? What other NES/FC games will be available?
Are these new additions going to be remade in 3D or just emulated?
And lastly - why Xevious? Has anybody downloaded this title?
I'm sure there will be a lot of NES/Famicom games available in the future.
Why Xevious? ... I guess it's very popular at least here in Japan.

Just emulated. There is debate online over whether they will be the NES versions or the GBA "classics" versions, though.
The 3D remakes are part of a six-game series, the first two being Excitebike and Xevious. Twinbee has been announced as the third.
Quote from: jpx72 on August 14, 2011, 11:32:41 pm

Because Xevious is awesome ;D I've ranted about it a bit in other threads, but I think it's an awesome port of an awesome classic. If you don't like the original, though, then you won't like this remake.
Twinbee is already available in Japan. :)
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/eshop/sacj/index.html (http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/eshop/sacj/index.html)
Ooh, I wonder when it comes out here. It has the same two-plane gameplay as Xevious, so I'm sure I'll buy it. The curtains on the side look kind of dumb, though (Xevious used animated cloud patterns).
Hmm interresting, I used to like TwinBee some 10 years ago on my first multicart. I had Xevious on that cart also, but it never caught my attention, mainly because of the non-interesting music and also the movement of the ship is way too slow compared to other vertical shooters. But maybe it's just me :)
So it leaves us with only 2 unknown 3D-ised games to go. And please god don't let the PAL emulation of the other titles be slow!
Oh yeah, I forgot that Urban Champ was one of the six. Seems like an odd choice for a remake, but whatever.
Man, Japan's eShop has a bunch of 3D stuff already. The US only has the two classics games, 3D Golf (which looks awful, but I haven't played it), and the 3D video channel.
Yes, there are already over 20 games on the e-shop.
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/eshop/software/index.html
Virtual Console is starting to look better, too. Still waiting for Wario Land, though.
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/eshop/vc/index.html
Ah yes, the 3D video... if only it worked for my country :(
I have region changed to UK and I have also tried some UK proxies but without luck. "...Not available in your location"
Oh and I'm so jealous about that Rockman World!
You're not missing out on a whole lot with the video channel. It's almost entirely movie trailers and PG-rated videos from College Humor.
Honestly, I didn't know College Humor even *had* videos that don't involve lots of swearing and nudity.
I can't believe they made a 3D Classic out of Urban Champion. There is NOTHING in that game you can count as a classic. It was one of the worst games ever back then, still was on Wii Virtual Console and it's not better on the 3DS.
I understand the deal with putting out the crap FIRST because otherwise no one would buy it. But they could mix it with some REAL 3D Classics, like Super Mario Bros. That would also broaden the appeal of the 3DS. But noo, they just want to convert games that takes two weeks to redo in 3D. And it smells cash-in from the other side of the globe.
However, I'm a fanboy, so I bought it. Got to round 45 at the first try and the rankings is a nice addition. But it's the same crappy game as always, both boxing and this can be beaten by random button mashing. If you play against another player there is a bigger chance of winning if you just mash buttons. (Can't say this is true if you play it for a long period of time, but no one, NO ONE; will ever waste that much time on this crappy game. If you do I envy you a bit.)
Back to grinding Skill Points in Resident Evil...
I agree.
I wish they'd bring out some more "big guns" in the beginning.
I have a question about the ambassador programme - is there a way to see if you are qualified already from your 3DS?
Or will it be possible only by typing your S/N here http://ambassador.nintendo-europe.com/ (http://ambassador.nintendo-europe.com/) (for Europe, should work soon)
I heard some rumor that the US have a special notification saying "You are an ambassador" - is it true?

The message in the 3DS market says to go to http://support.nintendo.com/nintendo3DSstatus (http://support.nintendo.com/nintendo3DSstatus) to check. YAAY got it in EU! AWAWAWAWAWA in the "titles dowloaded" section!!!
So, should I download all 10 of them (NES) or save some "free download credits" for some other games?
You should download all 10 titles, because those are the only 10 NES titles that are free.
Later there will be 10 GBA games available that you can download with the same method.
Hey do you know what's the best on these games? That they run here in EUROPE in NTSC SPEED!
NO PAL SLOWDOWN like it was on the Wii Virtual console!
I only hope that when they will be officially available, the trend in speed will stay.
Anyway, saving in Zelda? press start, then L+R switch controllers and push Up+A !!! I love this -original- way!
Really hoping they put VirtualBoy games on the eStore. I think they will come 'later' because of the controller issue.
That would be nice. I'd love to see the VB Wario Land on the 3DS.
Saw this on Kotaku:

Got another Streetpass while at the grocery store. This time it was "AIKEY♪" from Shizuoka, Japan. Although I somehow doubt it was the single Asian woman that I saw at there ::)
Nice!
I'm still waiting for my first foreign Streetpass...
No luck over here, I'm feeling like the only person in my country with a 3DS...
Maybe you are! :o
Have you been in Bratislava with your 3DS? I guess there the chance to meet other owners would be the highest...

It's not my cup of tea, but Japanese gamers seem to like it, it's apparently very well done.
Localization work should be minimal, so I don't see any reason why they wouldn't release it overseas.

I might get one if Toys r Us still has them for cheap. I'll collect it though :p
:pow: Finally ordered a 3DS LL!! :pow:
Shin Hikari Shinwa is also on the way, and I'm picking up the AC-Adapter locally. I'm considering getting Super Mario 3D Land, Fire Emblem Kakusei or Luigi's Mansion 2 next. Looking forward to the new Zelda.
I heard that all 3DS models have problems with the upper screen getting scratched when folding it. Any recommendations on how to prevent this? Screen protectors? I heard cheap screen protectors might mess with the 3D. I thought of using some kind of small adhesive pillows that prevents it to fold all the way, but I'm not sure what to use.
Mine doesn't get scratched, but it gets marks which wipe off easily. I would get a rubber foot sticker set from a DIY store (like from a calculator) and stick them on somewhere as you say.
Don't even think about getting Mario 3D Land - just get it!!! It's the best Mario in years, thinking about it makes me want to play it again now. It reminded me of playing SMB3 for the first time. A huge amount of bite sized levels, each with their own gameplay feel.

You hit the nail on the head! I love this game! It feels like a mash-up between Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario 64, which in my opinion were the best in the series.i am soooooo close to a 100% save file :)
OK I'm probably picking up Mario next, and Kakusei later. Any other recommendations? I've always been a fan of the Harvest Moon series but I'm having trouble keeping up with it nowdays. I'm not sure about getting Circle Pad Pro yet. Maybe if it gets cheaper.

Thanks! It's hard to find these kind of things if you don't know what they are called. Apparently my local electronic component store has it listed under "Device Feet" (literal translation from Swedish) in their catalogue. Gonna go there when my 3DS arrives and see if they have anything that works.
That's pretty much it. I have some here somewhere if you get stuck.
Personally I wouldn't bother with the circle pad, unless you simply MUST play Monster Hunter.
I'd recommend Mario 3D Land, Zelda Ocarina, Luigi's Mansion and The next Zelda on its way. Oh and Kingdom Hearts HD and Animal Crossing and some money toward eShop Virtual Console games. Gameboy games look great on it.
Yeah I guess I'll only get circle pad pro if I get a game that needs it. Hikari Shinwa apparently only uses it as a left-handed option. Being a lefty myself I don't see why using the right hand for movement would make it any easier to play for lefties. I've been using d-pads and joysticks with my left hand all my life!
Ordered a case and a screen protector mainly for the touch screen, as I don't believe it will help much against the mentioned scratches on the top screen. My DS Lite has faint circular scratches (probably mainly from playing Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan) so I think these will help prolong the glass' life a bit.
I realized that I missed out on the free Zelda Four Swords Anniversary Edition. The only way for me to get it now would be getting a Japanese DSi with it installed on and then transfer it to my 3DS. :-[
That was fast! :o I already got it after 3 days! I had to pay tax though :'( (Swedish consumption tax is 25% which in the case of 3DS means the price of a full game). But I don't complain. The total price including shipping was still cheaper than buying one locally, and games are cheaper too. There are some downsides of importing though. Download Play seems to be region locked and many games doesn't support local multicart wifi or StreetPass features cross region either.
Kid Icarus is still on its way but I have fun playing around with the pre-installed applications, and I just downloaded Ugokumemochou 3D / Flippnote Studio 3D. I have to admit that the 3D is more impressive than I had thought. I look forward to see how the games turn out.
I tried the 2DS and 3DS before purchasing either and then it came down to 2DS.
+ Tablet-style
+ Comfortable for my hands
+ No clam-shell
+ Looks great
+ Collectible
+ Cheap
+ No 3D which made me nauseous after a few moments afterwards
+ 4GB SD Card
+ Screen sizes are in its ideal sizes for me
When I tried a 3DS in a store for the first time I thought the 3D was tiring on the eyes, and I thought I would turn it off when grinding and turn it on when there's a new cut scene or something. But now when I have one I realize that I never turn the 3D off and it's not tiring at all. Also I thought an LL would be too big but I now realize that the concept benefits from a big screen. Especially the touch screen when you are drawing.
Shin Hikari Shinwa Palutena no Kagami finally came and I love it! The stand that comes with the game is also very useful when using other applications on my desk at home.
Still waiting for Super Mario 3D Land. :)

They are all region locked as MaxXimus said. I imported a Japanese 3DS LL so that I wouldn't miss out on Japanese exclusives.
Super Mario 3D Land finally came and it's a cool game so far. Free shipping from Playasia was surprisingly even slower than free shipping from Yesasia.
3DS has at last been hacked so it's just a matter of time before someone makes 3DS Softmod possible to allow Region Free feature on it.
It's not usable for 2DS.
I hope softmod pirating won't come until the end of the 3DS' life. I don't want the market to be ruined yet. But I DO hope some workaround for my region problems will come soon!

Softmod doesn't mean pirating and the only time when pirating has ever actually done damage was on the PSP because the damn handheld was atrociously bad thanks to the UMD Disc Drive (terrible loading speeds and unnecessary plastic -- the second time Sony went with Game Cards on PSV).
People really should get informed about it instead of bashing it. It's annoying.
You say that, but I can tell you first-hand that piracy on NDS did a lot of damage - exactly why measures were put in place for 3DS. Softmod doesn't have to mean piracy, but it always comes along not surprisingly.
I also hope the 3DS doesn't see a softmod until the end of its cycle, it'll be a quick anti-climax to the platform otherwise. I really wish it wasn't region locked though.

You're kidding, right? Piracy on the DS was and still is rampant for the DS/DSi, not to mention consoles like the Wii. While I agree that softmoding does not strictly mean piracy, as there are people out there who do wish to develop their own programs/apps/games, the amount of people who simply don't want to pay for games far outweighs that.
The Wii was discontinued not because of piracy but because Nintendo wanted to, in favour of Wii U.
So let me see.. the Original Xbox was terminated because of piracy? Nope. Microsoft forced their customers to upgrade to Xbox 360.
I guess GameCube did so badly due to the piracy oh wait, that wasn't it.
Did piracy kill PlayStation 3? Oh yeah tootally.
I remember when people used to say "piracy is going to kill PS3" and look at it today, it's rocking hard and one of the best consoles this gen, aside from the 360.
Honestly, you guys are exaggerating way too much and don't realise how wrong you are.
Sorry, but for Nintendo DS piracy had a massive impact. To say otherwise is absolute denial.
Piracy on Wii and 360 isn't as bad, but Wii was discontinued because of poor software sales in the end - piracy would have affected that. 360 had a lot of piracy too (just not relatively speaking) hence why so many people got suddenly banned when MW4 came out. Microsoft was more on top of things than Nintendo when it came to piracy, but agaian it DID have a moderate impact.
Having worked with both manufacturers and knowing many people at other platforms, publishers and developers I can offer an informed overview and that is that as soon as a softmod appears that allows piracy, it starts to have an effect on software lineup. That effect can start off small, but as time goes on and tge platform in question matures, it can mean the difference between whether a game gets funded or not.
In an ideal world softmod =/= piracy, but realistically and generally speaking it does. To insist otherwise is wishful thinking and comes across as blind optimisim. I like softmods, especially at the end of a lifecycle when games become harder and harder to find or are region locked.
As I said it doesn't HAVE to mean piracy, but unfortunately piracy is an unwelcome parasite that hitches along.
I guess this is now relevant to the discussion:
http://gbatemp.net/threads/region-free-cart-loading-with-emunand-no-flashcards.360261/
I've not tried it or anything, so as with all things if you do anything to your system, you do it of your own accord and accept all responsibility. Goes without saying, but saying it anyway.
Requires a year-old 3DS firmware? I guess that's par for the course when it comes to this sort of thing.
Another problem is that new 3DSes always comes with a newer firmware than v4.5.
I downloaded Fire Emblem Kakusei via the Club Nintendo campaign. I thought of getting another free game and buy the Fire Emblem cartridge version, but my brother bought it and I saw that you don't get a manual or anything with it so I might as well take the DL version.
And now there's a campaign where you can get Super Mario Bros Deluxe VC for free if you register Nintendo ID for your 3DS! So much freebies nowdays!
I finally got my free Super Mario Deluxe VC download code! I think it's one of the better remakes mostly because of the challenges and other extra stuff.
Europeans still have chance to get this if you register Nintendo ID on the 3DS before the end of January I think.
