Title: NGP/C game translation?
Post by: linkzpikachu on March 25, 2011, 07:18:49 pm
i heard on a video that a neogeo pocket/color would translate the game if it was in a differant language, for instance if i took my japanese version of biomotor unitron and put it in my american NGPC it would translate into english. anybody know if this works?

I can't confirm this since I don't have any Japanese games for mine, but if you have the game, and you have an NGPC...why not just try it yourself?

Wow, I really don't think so,... I don't think so at all.   That'd be something though...  if there was some basic language translator at the heart of any console.

This would only work if both languages were already on the cart.

When I bought Little Big Planet here in Japan I could play it in English when I set the main language of the console to English.

i get it now, so my hanabii wouldnt work because it japan-only, but should biomotor unitron work? i mean wasnt it released in the US, so i dont think they would take that much time to re-code the US version

X360s have this set automatically, the discs' code are pretty much universal because most games are not region locked.  The only way I could get my Japanese version of Super Street Fighter 4 to display the Japanese names was by switching the console language to Japanese, which wasn't exactly user-friendly.

This displeased me   '--___--'

Well I can confirm that Neo Geo MVS does translate games when switching the console to different language. But that's an arcade cabinet and the games are the size of a VHS tape, so they contain more languages withing the cartridge itself.
