Title: Nes converter question
Post by: makaveli on March 27, 2011, 02:48:32 pm
Hi all I was wondering if the pal nes I can use a converter like the us to famicom and it would work?
Sorry if I sound like a retard but I've never had a nes but I do have a snes. I would like to get into both nes USA and pal and famicom mainly because try are alot cheaper than pal nes games.

Would I be better of with a clone that can load both regions?

Famicom and US NES games are NTSC, while PAL, is well, PAL.. I'm sure there are adapters for NTSC to PAL. For famicom games, you'll need that on top of a Famicom to NES adaptor.

Are famicom games the same number of pins as pal?

No, the famicom has 60 pins while the NES has 72. That's what the FC-NES adaptor is for.

I had a Famicom->NES converter that was PAL.  But it worked on my NES because I disabled the lockout chip on my console.

I believe it was this one:

(Yeah, I wrote that article.) I think I may still have it, but I won't be at my house until May. :(
