Title: How much does a Famicom usually sell for?
Post by: Josh on February 07, 2007, 04:08:27 pm
Hey all, this is my first post, so welcome me!

How much money is a reasonable price for a Famicom?  I've been interested in owning a Famicom for a while now.  I know that I want an AV Famicom for the better video output, but this is the only one I can find on eBay right now:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Nintendo-Famicom-NES-AV-Edition-Boxed-Mario-Br-Japan_W0QQitemZ300076967859QQihZ020QQcategoryZ50171QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Is that too much?  Also, I have some questions about some of the information in the auction and about the system in general.  First, the seller lists the item as including a 100 V AC Adapter, but North American households are 120 V.  Were all Famicom AC Adapters 100 V, or are there others?  Would this cause any problems with a 120 V connection?  Also, as far as I can gleam from the voids of the Internet, the AV cable for the AV Famicom is the same that Nintendo has used on the Super Famicom/Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and GameCube.  If this is true, can I also use the Nintendo similarly-styled S-Video cable on the AV Famicom?

I think that's about it for now.  Thanks.

I guess that auction is within range for now, then, but what do you think about the shipping with the auction I linked to?

Thanks for the links about the AC Adapters.  I didn't think too look in the Workshop section for some of that information, but I'm glad that's been cleared up.

But I'm still wondering about that S-Video thing...

As far as I understand, there's no harm in using any audio/video cables.

The only Famicoms with S-VIdeo output are the AV Titler Famicoms, or another Famicom/NES that has had the PPU replaced with an RGB PPU and someone has used an RGB->S-video circuit.
