hello all.Ihave a famiclone but no fami games so im wondering what are some fun yet cheap games to start out with?I know id like to get a copy of splatterhouse eventually from reviews ive read but right now im wondering about the cheap?Advice?oh yeah... i like rpgs(which are probably out of the question.. i dont read or speak japanese),shmups, and fishing games...but anything fun to start with is cool.
Antarctic Adventure is a good one. :)
When it comes to buying cheap, for the Famicom it isn't a matter of which ones. The pricing of any game is all over the place. But you've just gotta look out for cheap lots, where you can get games for $1 to $2 a piece.
Yeah maybe ill go that way...looking for a lot that is ...i made the mistake of buying single games when i started collecting nes and got reamed in the long run by shipping.
And when the items are coming from Japan, the shipping will ream you even worse.
ummmm yahoo japan lots arnt to bad and if your only buying carts its not bad on shipping. its when you buy a bunch of famicoms and fds when they really kill you on the shipping.
famicom and fds. maybe not the best over all just the cheap and easy to find at a good price. like kirby, lets try and start a list. 8)
- Hoshi no Kirby
Family Circuit
Gun.Smoke
pulse line Mario Bros
I got a pulse line Mario Bros. for USD $8 shipped, but i don't know if they're all that cheap.
I got Mario Bros Pulse Line for only 4$ shipped.
I got Mario Bros pulse line in an Antarctic Adventure box, with AA manual, inserts and stuff for 1.99 shipped. :p
If you paid more than $20 for single loose game, you paid way too much.
Everyone needs to own a copy of Mario Bros pulse line.

Unless its a pirate multi or such.
Not too many pirates are worth that much...maybe the major Mario pirates...MAYBE...but nothing else
Some games I'd recommend:
Hoshi no Kirby
Family Circuit (Fun racing game)
Gun.Smoke (Disk, VERY fun shooter) I got this in Famicomshop for $6

There are plenty of single loose carts that cost more than $20...
Takahashi Meijin no Bouken Jima IV
Spartan X 2
Akumajo Dracula
Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa
Daiku no Gensan
Daiku no Gensan 2
Seirei Densetsu LICKLE
Moon Crystal
Recca
I could probably list 40+ more so I wouldn't say that no game should cost more than $20.
I think he meant in general, but those are all good examples of expensive carts, a loose disk with SMB and SMB2j on it goes for about $20
Yeah, I meant in general. There are rarer carts, of course. Many of them aren't really *worth* more than $20, though. You're paying a lot just because they're collectible, not because they're necessarily good games.
Albeit, Recca is damn hard, which makes it a good game on it's own, Spartan X 2 is also (not as) hard, but good..
And a disk with SMB/SMB2j is just awesome :P
Ahh Recca what a great game that gave me so many seizures.....good memories.
Did you used to have it or something?
I still have it but I don't play it anymore :o
AWAAAAAA GIMME
Any more good Disk System games? I'm going to be a new owner of one and am wondering if there are any must-have games under $20.
Doki Doki Panic is an awesome Disk System game, I'm sure you already know this, but it's what NOA got SMB2 from, but Doki Doki Panic is way better
Tobidase Daisakusen is a fun game, the 3D isn't the best, but nonetheless fun and cheap
Obviously SMB2j, the super challenging "official hack" of SMB
Hikari Shinwa: Palutena no Kagami (Kid Icarus)
Metroid

but Doki Doki Panic is way better
I actually prefer SMB2's sound effects, the DDP ones are kinda irritating. The addition of a run button, a polished Bonus screen, and a new enemy (Clawgrip) are also great.
The sound effects are nice, but I see DDP as more of a challenge for two reasons...
You can't run from the truth
You have to beat the game with ALL 4 characters to see the true ending

Yeah, I've gotta agree. I love Doki Doki Panic and all, but Super Mario Bros. USA is definitely superior to it. It's still a great game, though! I got my copy for $25 five years ago.
No idea about how popular this one is, but the first Ultraman game on the Disk System is pretty fun, and I haven't found a Disk System game yet that's cheaper.
Yeah, I'm going to be a new Disk System owner within a week so I'm trying some games out. ;D
