Title: Yue Yue, rest in peace.
Post by: FamicomRetroGamer on October 23, 2011, 06:53:52 pm
Poor two year old child, she left the store without her guardian noticing and then she got run over by two drivers, they probably saw her but still did it.

And even those 18 passers-by that saw the child did nothing not even take her to the hospital.

Disgusting humans.

Rest in peace, Yue Yue.

Maybe the people never saw the child. Ever hear of inattentional blindness (http://youarenotsosmart.com/2009/10/01/hello-world/)?

The Misperception: You see everything going on before your eyes, taking in all the information like a camera.

The Truth: You are only aware of a small amount of the total information your eyes take in, and even less is processed by your conscious mind and remembered.

Here's an interesting story that may get you thinking: http://www.npr.org/2011/06/20/137086464/why-seeing-the-unexpected-is-often-not-believing

The Bystander Effect probably played a large role in this as well.

For whatever, I seem to be...desensitized.

Anyway, have you guys actually seen the video? I think I remember people looking at her, and still doing nothing. This is what I always think of when I think of Chinese citizens. Robots. They do what they do, and nothing more; no compassion, no morals. At least, that's what comes to mind. That might not always be true.

Generalisations are never always true.  However there are some clear concerns over Chinese morality being asked, by everyone.
