So my Hyper Shot controllers arrived today along with a copy of Hyper Olympic. I noticed a sticker on the front, but figured it was just something from a used game store. I start it up and it plays fine, but the player sprite looks like something out of the Edo Period. The sticker, it seems, says 限定版 or "limited edition". Anyone have any other information about this release?

Oh ho, I might have answered my own question. Family Computer 1983 - 1994 mentions, "There also exists a very unique version of this game (Hyper Olympic), in which Ken Shimura's "Baka Tono (Silly Lord)" was part of its character."
Neat find!

There are a few on Yahoo auction for about 1000 loose, 4000 boxed. The box has the sticker on it too... Wonder if it was a retail release? Not too pricey for a neat curiosity.
its a very interesting and semi-rare cart. It is more uncommon than rare, Im actually after a copy and would pay upto $25.00 if you can find another! :)
I lucked out and got the controllers and the game for $25 shipped :coin:

There was no mention of it being the limited edition version, and I would guess other sellers would neglect to mention it too. If I were you, I would just keep an eye on eBay for Hyper Olympic and check the pictures for the sticker.
Bump!
I sent my cart out to bootgod to get it dumped. There are scans of it up now for anyone who is interested.
