Title: Souseiki Fammy
Post by: Xious on November 10, 2011, 06:26:05 pm
Could anyone with sharp enough eyes, and a good sense of Kanji read the symbols on this and put them in a reply in text form?

I am trying to locate one of these devices, the Souseki Souseiki Fammy, along with the software for it, and I'm trying to search for it, so I need the original Kanji, which I can't see clearly. Any help would be appreciated.

@ Manual, and anyone in Nippon: if you can locate a Souseiki Fammy, and/or any of the software, I will love you until the end of time.

These are the tools disks:

Base Disk:

ROM-QD :Convert Cassette to Disk(to 256k+64k type; dumped)

Option Disks
(SSO-1) B.B RAM Plus :R/W Back UP RAM Data(Nintendo Cassette type) to Disk
(SSO-2) Slow Plus(2Disk):Enable Slow motion during the game
(SSO-3) I2 Disk Basic :Convert Family Basic Cassette to Disk

I especially want the SSO-3 disk!

If I can get one of these to me, I will fully document it and post schematics for it (unless someone sends me one with explicit instructions not to do so as a bribe, as if that would happen).... I think many people would enjoy using it, given any chance of building one.

Anyhow, any help in transforming the kanji into text-characters that I can copy and paste into a search would be appreciated. Any help in documenting this device is further appreciated, and actually finding one for me will earn you eternal love and a bunch of lollipops.  :bomb:

Here you go:
(The reading is "souseiki" by the way and not "souseki")
創世機ファミー

I never even heard of that thing...  :o

Thank you! That's my fault... I dropped an 'i'.

If you can ask around, and perhaps find one, well, you know..  ;D

Lastly, should we be using 'Fammy', as mentioned elsewhere, or 'Fami'. I think the latter (Fami) is correct, but other people use 'Fammy'...

Well, the last vowel is long, indicated my the ー, so...
Fammy might be a good transliteration.
ファミ is usually "Fami"
ファミー has a long "i", e.g. like サミー = Sammy, so Fammy looks good to me.

(did that make any sense?  )

Sure. I just would side on the 'Fami' wording, but that's me. The Latin i is equivalent to that sound, but some people would prefer y there. There shouldn't be a doubled m though, either way.

Anyhow, i found some websites very quickly with information on the device, but no-one selling one, even on YAJ.

The manufacturer name is 'I2', whatever that may mean (a.k.a. Aitsu). Do you t  :bomb:hink you could try to track one down, and maybe the disks too?

The Japanese word "Aitsu" means something like "that guy".  ;D

You can write it in a way you want, btw, there's really no firm rule.

I just used an analogy. The Name "Sammy" is transcribed as "サミー" in Japanese. Or Cammy is "キャミー".
Using that analogy, ファミーwould become Fammy, but as I said, you can really call it as you like.  :)

I'm not sure if it's meant to be 'Aitsu', as I only saw that referenced in one place. i2 is how it's marked on the copyright declaration, and I don't know if that means anything... It's very short for a business name; although I suppose that it could merely be a cracker moniker.

I've been trying to get one of these for a while. I even had one promised to me, but it never happened; maybe it still shall, but I'm not holding my breath. If you can find one, let me know. There are pages made by people who own them, and several people on Disk System Maniacs seem to have them, so I suppose they were popular enough at one time.

I would like to have one for several reasons... It'd be fun to R-E the thing, and to use it for its intended use. I'm curious how well the Family BASIC conversion works too.

Thank you for converting it to digital characters for me. I couldn't see it clearly enough on my system to even attempt it. (I also need to buy at least a Hiragana KB at some point.) :bomb:

It's very plausible to be "aitsu". Japanese people love to hide meanings in letters.
E.g. the manga artist Masakazu Katsura's studio is called "Studio K2R" (K2R = Ka-tsu-ra).

Telephone numbers are also made into words.
117-117 is "iina iina" (="Nice nice")

Hey Xious, if you do end up getting one if these units, I'd love to have some pics and info on my site about it.  ;)

I have a few people looking for one too, and if they end up finding one I'll let you know.

That was already part of the plan, as it.s very GD-like in design. I think I discussed this with you on a previous occasion, when I was mentioning DISK BASIC; I think that F-DOS was designed to work with it as well, but I'm not certain about that.  :bomb:

I don't have anything to add to this thread, but when I first read it I thought it had something to do with the Rozen Maiden character Suiseiseki.

I may have an idea as to where you can get one, but it won't be easy. A couple months ago, I came across a Japanese article from 2007 about the device that mentioned that Aitsu had set up a shop on the second floor of a building near Akihabara Station. Looking it up, it appears to be Yodobashi Akiba. The author said that he/she was able to purchase the device at the shop. I don't know if they're still there, but the building and the type of things they have on their second floor are.

It may also be a different floor. If you do go there, be sure to search the whole building.
