Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrh! Why?!? Why, of all thr fantastic games that need a translation patch, did someone select that pile of kusoge?

But wait, even translated, this game famously requires the controller 2 mic and singing a Japanese song on key. Has that section been removed/worked around for this??

As per the readme:

I thought the 1990 re-release of the game removed the microphone parts?

Then does that mean that this CAN be played in emulation? I'm still a little confused by that.

Even in English, the game is still one of the worst games for the Famicom. Why in the hell would anyone translate this game?! i put it on my powerpak and tried to play it but its one of the most confusing games I've ever had the misfortune of playing.

It's not only one of the strangest and worst games on the famicom, it's famous for being one of the strangest and worst games for famicom.  Thats why someone translated it :). 

Also: awesome!  I have this game and was really hoping I would get to try it out, now I can :)

Well its a known fact that this game was made shitty on purpose. Takeshi Kitano is an avid hater of videogames, so he wanted to make a game that would get the kids pissed off and so they would have to go play outside again. Its loosely based off of his popular tv show "Takeshis Castle" which was the driving force to get people to go out and waste their money on this. Surprisingly, it is actually quite popular and a cult classic due to the fact that Its a shitty game, but thats exactly what its supposed to be.

Does it really have any relation to Takeshi's Castle?  There are two Family Trainer (Power Pad) games based off of Takeshi's Castle, but I really don't know what this one has to do with the show aside from Takeshi's name.

is not related to the show, its related to the man.  Takeshi designed the game.

Edit: Sorry, messages from my phone never come out well.
It's not related to Takeshi's Castle, but Takeshi did lot of stuff and was famous for other reasons as well.
Also, I heard/read somewhere that he hated video games and actually designed this game with the intent of being a terrible game that would drive kids away from video games and get them outside or something :)

yeah I mean due to the popularity of Takeshi's Castle at the time and the man himself, thats why the game sold somewhat well.

This is one of those titles that is impossible to play, and the best ending is probably a black screen with the text 'Game Over'. With all the games that are worth playing that need a translation, dedicating the time to do this was a pure shame.  :bomb:

The game has historical and cultural significance :)
Check out this video, it's funny.  This guy said that "The developers took there job very seriously" but apparently Takeshi would show up drunk and belt out crazy stuff and they wrote it all down and put everything he said while he was drunk in the game.

The English used for signs is okay but the English in the dialogue is jacked up like the game is glitching.  Is the dialogue supposed to be nonsense or is something not working properly with the patch?

I patched my rom that I dumped myself, it's a 1986 rom , which the readme says the translation was tested on.  I get the same behavior as you.  I do not believe the dialog is supposed to be nonsense, judging by the beginning of the walk through I looked at is seems it should be regular dialog.  Trying to apply the .ups version through an error message :(
Not sure whats wrong, is it possible there is more than 2 versions of the ROM?  Anyone have a success story with the patch?

Edit: OK, guess I should learn to read better.  You have to expand the PRG of the original ROM using NFLATE.exe (which you can get from the same page as the patch)
if you do that, it works fine.
