Title: SNK back the handheld market
Post by: petik1 on January 25, 2012, 11:54:08 am
http://www.itproportal.com/2012/01/25/snk-playmore-debuts-new-neo-geo-hand-held-console/

If it's less than $100, I'll probably go for it.

Me too! I've always wanted to get the Neo Geo Pocket Color back in the day (http://www.giantbomb.com/neo-geo/60-25/all-images/52-195030/neogeo_ad_2/51-1652433/).

I doubt this will go far, but I'll still get one just for giggles, & because I like SNK. ;)

Maybe if it's less than $100, but honestly, it looks exactly like one of those 3rd party portable emulators to me. Plus I've already got a Supergun and a NGPC. :P

I'm getting one - it's what I've been waiting for because it'll play everything under the sun emulation wise pre NEO GEO.

Can't wait.  The only thing that can spoil it now is the price - more than $100 isn't worth it to me, I'll just keep my PSP.

Do those emulators have a Neo-Geo logo on them, or that awesome D-pad thing?

I'm sure there's one out there with a control stick, and I can put a Neo-Geo sticker on it. :P

Does the one in the OP's post have one?

So by that comparison, it would appear to be a forgery and not the true design.

If I remember correctly, Blaze released some clone Mega Drive systems in the UK some time ago. Those clones are pretty poor from what I've seen, with bad sound emulation and some games not working properly.

I just hope this thing works properly. :-\

Shit, if they think they can jack up the prices just because Neo Geo is an expensive brand, they can expect a warehouse full of these. The Neo Geo is expensive because it is literally an arcade machine for your TV. Not some portable emulator.

I think they've made pricing decisions based on the twitter buzz when this thing was announced back then...
Whatever the reason, it's moronic.

As expected, NEOGAF having a field day wth this one   :octorok:

QuoteIt will come with 20 licensed games built-in [...] The NeoGeo X will also feature an SD card slot...
Oh, so it's one of those things. Great. Another portable emulator.

Methinks they purposely hiked the price up so that when they announce the real price, it won't look so bad & more people will flock.

2Bhonest, I already lost interest in this. :(

I believe the price is not official yet.
Just somebody said that it would be more affordable than an original Neo Geo.

That doesn't mean that it will cost 500 pounds or something.

I think it'll be under 100$/Euros.

I registered for updates, but it'd have to be sub-$100 for me to take an interest really.  Like I said, PSP does this flawlessly at 60fps v-sync already.
