Title: FamicomStation
Post by: JC on February 19, 2007, 11:46:15 pm
Anyone know anything about Sharp's Famicom Station, such as the games that were made for it? What was it used for? Is it a "generic" FamicomBox?

I know they looked similar, had similar loading screens and used NES controllers and an NES Zapper light gun. Other than that, I haven't a clue.

With Sharp's relationship with Nintendo back then, they probably were both made by sharp.  I would assume that they were just branded differently for different purposes.  I can't see Nintendo allowing sharp to brand the instore famicom stations with Sharp's name if Nintendo made them.  I can see sharp making a deal where they were able to sell the instore ones if they gave Nintendo some kind of break on the Hotel ones and let Nintendo brand the Hotel ones however they wanted...

I believe both were indeed made by Sharp. How long was that business deal for, anyway?

I guess the ports are the same.

Yeah, you can use any NES controller on a FB/FS, I'd guess, since the ports are the same, and the FB/FS use the NES Zapper.
