I guess you could try to remake a line for screw drivers with a dremel.

just leave it !!
if it hasn't been moved (and I suppose someone worked very hard because he couldn't move it), then leave it as it is.

stupid article...

Rule of thumb is, if it hasn't been moved, don't move it.

Even if it is off by a little, that may by compensated by the position of the spindle hub.

I don't understand how you managed to strip it so badly, while turning the screw? Maybe it is still in the same position.

If you do need to turn it (if you haven't done enough of that already...) I think you need to be creative. Put some glue in the hole maybe, then you can push a screwdriver into it after it gets solid. Worst case, drill into it, unscrew it, and ask if someone can send you a new screw.

I think you can find a special glue for screwdrivers

I unscrewed a stripped screw using a power drill once.  Just make sure it's rotating to the left.

I would try very carefully to turn it with a pair of needle nose pliers.  After removal, go to your nearest Lows or Home Depot and find a metric threaded screw of the same diameter and length.
Usually found in the hardware section and they usually have a size chart that you can turn the damaged screw into to find the exact size.
