Title: Famicom Rocky Comic about the Famicom
Post by: senseiman on April 12, 2012, 05:56:27 pm
Did you guys know that there was a manga published in the 80s about the Famicom?  It was called Famicom Rocky, I just found a copy of it at a local comic store and it blew my mind.  I did a little review of it here:

There is an English translation of a couple of the stories here:

Very interesting stuff if you like to collect Famicom ephemera.

That looks cool, and very odd how they made Star Force look like a 1984 Hudson release, such as Nuts & Milk, or as you mentioned, Lode Runner. Almost makes me think it was also released in such a format... hmm..

By the way, regarding the art style of the manga, initially Ranma 1/2 comes to mind. For some reason the characters reminded me of it.

Yeah now that you mention it the main character does look like the one from Ranma 1/2.  Maybe the same illustrator!

Nice find.  :)
Maybe I should look around at Bookoff, too.  ;D

Btw, it was written my Motoyuki Asai.
Ranma is from Rumiko Takahashi.

edit: Ah, what the heck, I just ordered the reprint edition from 2001 in 2 big volumes from amazon.  ;D

Yes, I will be looking for these in Book Offs now that I know they exist too.  They also had a Game Boy comic that looked like it followed the same theme (only with Game Boys of course).

Edit: Oh, Amazon?  That is cheating!!!  ;D

Cheating is a big part of Famicom gaming! I did it in the spirit of Famicom!
