every time i load a fds image i get not an authentic image. if one loads i get err 22. any help on that?
Add the 16byte FDS header to your images. Also, only plug the cable into the RAM adapter after you've loaded the image into FDSLoadr. Keeping it connected is buggy.
how do i add the header
The easiest way is to open the image in a hex editor and paste in the header from an image that already has one. See attached image.
ok. i have some with it and i get err 22 after 1st green bar. LPT settings are ECP 378h and DMA off.
Try EPP. Mine works fine with that.
result... err 22

it loads gets to 6 green out of 18 and err27 all night nippon. best results yet with ecp 378h dma off
Not sure man, did you make or buy your cable? Are you using a real parallel port and not a USB converter card?
buy. real parallel
if needed computer is a dell optiplex gx520 with a11 bios
im going on the wierdest thing that the cause is running off a cd and not hdd for fds files
What OS are you running? It'd be best to put the files on the hard drive. Make sure you boot into DOS, too, and don't just use a DOS window.
Stock MS DOS 6.22 with 3.1
only pc i have woth parallel port

still doesnt work. would it be the pc?
i tried again after a while with no luck. either its the cable or the computer. i feel like i wasted 35 bucks :'(
You're probably not doing something correctly. Try a different FDS image and try different port settings. Have a look at the first part showing how to run FDSLoadr here (http://www.famicomdisksystem.com/tutorials/disk-writing/writing-disks-with-fdsloader-and-copy-master/).
ok. btw the number in the top right corner is 697691
dos msd.exe says im at IR1 7 and 0378h
got error 27 and 22 all the time
im in epp
edit: 1 GAME WORKING! disk hacker.
the header was
46 44 53 1A 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 2A 4E 49 4E 54 45 4E 44 4F 2D 48 56 43 2A 18
and another game with that header didnt work
Did you make sure your images are not checked as read-only or archive?
If I'm understanding correctly, the images are loading okay in FDSLoadr, but you aren't able to get them to transfer to your RAM adapter/Famicom okay. Is this right?
It could be that the cable isn't making a good connection with your Ram Adapter cable (maybe one pin isn't making good contact). Try holding it and slightly angling it when you plug it in and see if that works better and check that the parallel port end of the loader cable is connected tightly to your PC. Give ECP mode a try, too.
that first statement is correct
all but that 1 rom i get 22 25 or 27
Probably bad images. Try others.
The bit that shows "1A" is for a one-sided game. It will be "2A" for a game with sides A & B.
i tried a 1A game (smb to be exact) still nuthin. heres its header'
46 44 53 1A 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 01 2A 4E 49 4E 54 45 4E 44 4F 2D 48 56 43 2A 18
Email (see profile for address) me the images and I'll take a look.
EDIT: okay, got the files. None of them work?
only 1 works. dskhckr

Since im running stock dos im gonna install 98 on it see if that helps
*bump*
i tried a while later. any update on the fds files?
I sent you an email after you emailed me the files. They all work fine for me, so I'd suspect your parallel port setup or the cable itself.
well if it worked with 1 for me and all for you, i dont know what to do then. ill set it up again
