Urban exploration is just a fancy way of saying trespassing (and/or getting stabbed by a hobo).

They result in some nice pics, though ;D

edit: and also good stories: http://web.archive.org/web/20050427181600/http://highline.oblivio.com/michael.html (http://web.archive.org/web/20050427181600/http://highline.oblivio.com/michael.html)

I used to do this with friends when I was a teen, in the early to mid '90s. No digital cameras then, but I have some hard-copy photos somewhere.

I used to do that on my own after a night out drinking.  Took pics too.  This was nearly a decade ago, mind.

My family's business is industrial construction.  I have worked in and roamed about all kinds of dystopian, steam punkish industrial sites.

My wife and I went into an abandoned insane asylum a while back, which was fun.

Where Im from there are a ton of abandoned buildings. Just checked out an old abandoned mansion which come to find out, was used for the outside shots of the house in the film "Lets scare Jessica to death" (1971) its right off of exit 67 on 95 in CT.

When I was visiting family in Jacksonville, FL we snuck in to Public School #4 which has been closed up since the early 90s after the boiler room exploded.

It is quite a popular hobby here in Japan (called `haikyo`).  Not far from me is a good place, GUnkanjima (battleship island in English) that is popular for exploring.  This guy has some great pics of the place;

Very nice.
I wish there was some nice place near I where I am living, but there are no abandoned places I know of in my vicinity. :/

This guy has some fantastic pictures. Although their not really urban exploration, maybe more like rural exploration  :-[

'Urban', when talking about Urban Exploration, doesn't mean just cities and towns. Just man-made structures.
