Title: famicom blown

my brother plugged in a NES power adapter into the famicom. it wont turn on

if it didn't make a bang, you probably just blew the fuse.

The 07 does not have a fuse. Most likely the 7805 will blow up in them.

GPM-01 and 02 have a fuse and it's easy to replace.

Replace or bypass the whole thing with a short wire. You can also solder in a different fuse holder since a stock replacement may be difficult to find.

It's the small, rectangular box on the left side of the pic near the edge that shows 1.5A on it:

It's not my image (hotlinked), but you'd want to connect the points (metal legs) on either side of the black rectangle.

Try replacing the 7805 voltage regulator.

It's a 15 cent part. Just desolder it and solder in a new one. You can buy them online or at Radio Shack. It's not worth buying a new famicom over.

Do you have any friends, or maybe a parent, who can? It's not too tough to learn. Have a look at some youtube videos.

If you'd like I can replace it for you. I've got a few replacement 7805s and it's an easy job so the actual repair would only about $5.
