Title: FDS repair thread / info general maintenance

Hi All , just stumbled across this awesome site while looking for a FDS repair manual. I love all things Nintendo , mainly Famicom and Arcade stuff. I got a couple of cabs, Jap Punch-Out!! (twin screen) and an LAI Sheriff. I also dig the before Mario Nintendo. I'm sure we'll get into that later. As for now if any one could point me towards a repair manual or blog for the FDS.  ;D

Just wonder, is everyone taking off car wheels to replace alternator belt ??? Never mind...

Are you implying there's an easier way to replace the FDS belt? If so, please share!

I think he's implying on the main "Spindle Hub Alignment"

The article could be improved, as I have said before.
Spindle Hub Alignment isn't really troubleshooting, it is usually a necessary part. (unless you accept a system that only works sometimes)
Also, it is important that the "set screw" isn't tighten too much. This is mentioned in red in the Japanese article from which famicomdisksystem stole their photos and incorrectly translated stuff.
It is true, you often don't need to remove the disk carrier device and front plate.
Probably other things could be improved too.
The importance Magnetic Head Tuning Method is questionable. If the red glue is still on the screw, magnetic head tuning might cause more problems than it solves.

Ahem...I didn't translate it myself and did link back to the site where the photos came from. My intention is to take my own pics the next time one of my drive belts breaks and I have to replace it. Careful with your assumptions.  ;)

As a side note, the site was put together in less than two months from conception to launch. The entire belt replacement section needs a rewrite. I was hoping Xious would release his documentation on it, but that hasn't yet happened. Everyone seems to think there is a simple way to replace the belts, but I've yet to run across it, although I've heard quite a few theories on the best way to do it.
