Here you go guys, I heard about this a long time ago but couldn't say anything:

Thoughts? I'll get a red one now for sure.
Aside from the obvious improvements (screen size and mildly improved battery life) I am quite thankful for the redesigned select/start/home buttons. They seem to damage easily on the original 3DS.
Unfortunately, in Australia it will probably retail for $350 - we tend to get screwed when it comes to RRP's.
Eh. If it gives the 3DS another significant price drop, that'd be nice for people who don't have one yet. I just hate seeing Nintendo do the "XL" thing again but not include something like a second analog stick, which I'm sure a lot of people were wishing for.
Me too - when I first posted this I included a second analog stick image because I actually thought that's what it was going to have. As well as another feature.
Here's what I admit I was hoping for:

Ironically I still think there'll be anotehr 3DS announced before too long.
Not buying one, as I already have a 3DS.
Battery life is only slightly better on the XL, though. Bigger size allows for bigger battery, bigger screens draw more power. Guess it kind of breaks even :P
I am not at all surprised about the lack of a right analog stick. No one is going to develop games that make use of a second analog stick when far less than 100% of the install base actually have a second stick. If the XL had a second analog stick, it would almost never be used.
I think it would be used if it had it, the question is where to put it. That corner is where the CPU is, so it can't go there anyway.
I think the reason Nintendo excluded the second circle pad is because they want to discourage developers from using it. I think they knew it was a knee-jerk reaction to the PSVita's twin sticks and now they don't want to entire fuck this up. Besides, which game absolutely require the CPP?
Anyway, I actually like the bulk of the DSi XL, so I'll probably get this.
Based on face time I've had with them, I really don't think they'd be discouraging now.
Believe me they did encourage in a big way before the circle pad was announced.
It wasn't a reaction to the vita, more aimed at ports from twin stick games on PS2/PS3 etc.
Oh, I stand to be corrected. I assume you can't tell us if there's a XL sized CPP on the way, right? :pacman:
I can't really say anything that's not already announced elsewhere - but I imagine if they're committed to the CPP they'll put one out in small runs.
So far only 8 games are known to support it. I used the camera all the time in Kingdom Hearts 1+2, but I also found the DS and PSP games just fine without it.
I guess I always figured the CPP was just there to enable the Japanese to play Monster Hunter on the 3DS.
Meh.
I wanted to see a 2nd analogue stick on the new 3DS but there isn't, so I'll skip it.
I hate to be that guy, but what's this CPP you all are referring to?
Circle Pad Pro
An attachment with a second circle pad for games with special control schemes like Resident Evil and Monster Hunter.

Lay off the K2 :) Actually, I wrote a reply (and then realised before hitting post) asking what it was myself.
There are just too many acronyms everywhere these days!
Although I was expecting another Circle Pad, I am glad they didn't include it. I'd rather not have two different hardware versions with unique input devices, especially if developers are going to start catering to the newer models. Well, I geuss I COULD get the CCP attachment, but due to it's size and concept, I really don't want to.
I think games like Resident Evil still work fine, and even Monster Hunter worked well on the psp with just the one slide pad. I'm still waiting for Tri G to be localized though, so I can't really comment on it's controls compared to Freedom Unite or P3rd.
Back on topic with the 3DSXL, didn't they exclude the charging cable with asian releases?

Haha, I actually just opened up my laptop to one of my friends on Facebook talking about it, then instantly made the connection before I could even come here to do anything about it. :P
I for one am looking forward to this. Yeah, I would have liked an integrated CCP, but I understand that it isn't really needed. The bigger screens look great, and will definitely have a better "sweet spot" for 3D viewing. Also I LOVE that they put the rubber bumpers so that they will close on the bottom screen surround (no more fear of vertical screen scratches).
I do have one major gripe though that I can't ignore....
Why the heck did they go with full color displays again instead of only Red & Black? :'( ;D
Luls, I'm breaking out my VB today to play some more.
I'm glad they're selling a red and black one, because I'm going to stick a big fate dirty Virtual Boy logo on the top!
Anyone who hasn't played a Virtual Boy with Warioland VB - I dare you to play it and not love it!:P
Why are people treating this like a brand new system? It's no different than DS to DS lite or DSi to DSi XL. It's called a hardware revision for a reason.
Screw it I can barely fit the 3ds in my pocket so I'm going to stay away from this awaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,

I do have to wonder if PS Vita fits in my pocket because it looks rather biggy on the pics via PC that I've seen, then again, the PS Vita game cases looked pretty much as big as a BD case but in actuality they're very small.
I know something Sony's gonna do! PS Vita Slim! :P
Yeah, it's no secret, Sony always ends up releasing a Slim version of their consoles after the original models are out.
The Vita is pretty slim already. That's not the problem. Its length and width make it hard to fit into a trouser pocket.
My wife said she wants a 3DS for Animal Crossing. (I don't think we could share one 3DS and one copy of AC...)
Maybe she'll buy an 3DS LL.
GB Micro didn't work so a huge DS does?
I thought people wanted portable consoles to be small portable consoles not friggin' XL size for Lord's sake.
To be very honest, I usually don't play handhelds when I'm out, unless I'm going for a long drive or if I'm not in a public place. Plus, it's too big? Get some cargo shorts. Problem solved.

Famitsu just broke news on a CPP for the 3ds xl. Now it needs some goggles, and the Virtual Boy 2 will be complete!
Yeah the CCP was going to happen, let's see how big it is this time round.
3DS's 3D effect is not as ood as VB's though, shame. You look AT the 3DS, you look INTO the VB.
You look AT the VB, too. You just have an eyeshade to block out external light.
I'm not pleased, this means my DSXL wont sell for as much :(

This made me chuckle!

Portable devices are supposed to be portable/small whether you like it or not, not damn XL-size.
With the Circle Pad Pro accessory the big just got even bigger.
Well, that's why you can choose.
The original 3DS is very portable.
If the XL is too big for you, there's an easy solution: Ignore it.
For those who want it, hey great!
Win for both sides.
What I want to know is, where can I import a white 3DS LL that isn't going to price gouge?
yesasia ;)
Hmmm I might pick this one up after all....it was coming anyways that's for sure it was told when the 3DS was just released. I carry my 3DS in my backpack so it wouldn't bother if I had it there roomwise.
Careful guys. The 3DS LL's lower screen will leave marks on the top screen, just like the old model. I noticed it in just a couple days after owning it. Now I've got some custom bumpers on it and it's been doing great.
Another criticism is that the colors aren't quite as vibrant as those on the 3DS, and considerably less vibrant than those on the DS-lite/DSiXL.
Improvements include the larger screen, more practical 3DS slider, loose hing fix by having two 'snap in' settings, better L, R, and star/select/home buttons.
I've heard that the 3D "sweet spot" is bigger because of the larger 3D screen. Do you notice a difference?
I've noticed that for sure. But to be honest, having a larger screen itself is just such an improvement.
Is it true that 3DS XL battery lasts six more hours than the regular 3DS?
No.
The battery lasts only a bit more. Maybe 6 hours in total.
The battery is a huge improvement, but it's still no GBA SP. I'd say it's decent, where the 3DS was abysmal.
I haven't drained it completely, but 6 hours sounds about right if the battery level indicator is right.
I played a lot last night, mostly DS games, and the controller placement is more comfortable, but my hands still hurt after a while.
I was looking at Amazon's 3DS and the regular costs way less than £100 now, and to be honest, I like the standard size, so I think I'll skip the XL form.
Anyway, while PS Vita is technically better than 3DS, I haven't even considered add the console to my wishlist, the games available for it don't seem nothing spectacular or surprising that weren't available before on PS3.
Regardless of how many times people complain about Super Mario it never gets old, and Nintendo doesn't screw up Mario like Sega did for Sonic several years. ;D
By the way, this is false advertisement:

PlayStation Vita is
NOT an HD console, it's very near to an HD resolution but it's not in HD.
