Post by: FamicomRetroGamer on June 29, 2012, 05:11:51 am
While Sonic IV Episode II had a bit of a slow gameplay, it was actually a pretty good game, and now, later on this year we're gonna get Sonic Adventure 2 HD on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Yes, the marvellous Sonic Adventure 2 HD is making its way to Xbox 360 and PS3.

Release date: 3rd October 2012!

As for the price, I'd imagine it's gonna be 800 MSP for XBL, PSN will probably about the same cost or so.

I really hope they also bring back Sonic Adventure 2 Battle HD.

SEGA is hardly back to their awesome Sonic days.  Total shame because I love them but I think they've been losing fans ever since the Dreamcast went downhill.

As much as I love Sonic Adventure 1, SA2 is a buggy piece of crap. It's most redeeming feature is that it's at least not as bad as Sonic 2006.

I even tried to play through it again last year on the DC. Maybe I didn't give it a fair shake back in the day. I played through to the end, and the Sonic stages are pretty fun, but the others are not, and I quit playing Sonic's last stage since the bugs were so horrible that stage is nearly unplayable.

Now, if they fixed the bugs, I'd give it another shot on XBLA, but Sonic Adventure 1 didn't turn out so hot.

But SA on xbla was a port. This looks like an HD remake

I think the fact that they can't reproduce what made the Sonic Megadrive games so special is telling in itself.
I played SA2 but never thought it was anything near Mario 64 I'm afraid.

I'm not shitting on SEGA I just hoped they'd return to former glory but all I read lately makes it look like they're taking one step forward two steps back :(

Nice! I'd say I'd buy this right away since I really liked SA2 when I played it all the time on the GCN as a kid, but XBLA ports/HD remakes are almost always too expensive for my taste when I already have the game on an older system.  It would be nice to have the convenience of it being on my Xbox though, since I hardly play my Dreamcast or Wii anymore.

By the way, is it really an HD remake or are the polygons just scaled up?

Just having it in 720/1080 isn't an HD remake in my book.

Remastered in 720/1080 is in fact an HD resolution & HD remaster. It's obviously remastered in 720p HD.

OK so what of it? It's a remake of a game released over 10 years ago? How is this back to their awesome Sonic days? It's the same game just with better graphics...how about a good sonic game for once?

Sonic 4 ep. 1&2, Colors, Generations, and the CD remaster. That should be good for the last two years.

I thought Colours & Generations were ok, but both mixed with great bits and poor bits.  I thought Sonic Episodes sucked, which made me sad.

I think of your a fan of the DC Sonics then this is well worth it, but why can't they just make another great Sonic game?  Why?  What's stopping them?!

Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Colours, Sonic Rush, Sonic Generations, Sonic CD, Sonic 4 Episode 2 and now Sonic Adventure 2.

Sonic 4 Episode 1 sucked but Episode 2 is a lot better.

If they're going to make something relative to Sonic 4 Episode 2 then no, even tho it's better than S4E1.

I have been playing Sonic CD and Sonic 4 part 1 & 2 on my iPhone. I am very happy with these updates to Sonic. Sonic CD is still one of my all time favorite Sonic video games!

Well as long as the fans are happy.  I found this image that sums up how I feel personally about all this:

Yay for Sonic Adventure 2, at least it's widescreen this time.^^'
But please, don't let them make another Episode4. The Taxman should be the only one who's doin 2D games for Sega

I have a new motto for Sega. "If we want to do something right, outsource it to another developer."

I just realized that there hasn't been any Sega hardware that's been successful in more than one region. Sms in Europe, Genesis in America, Saturn in Japan, and Dreamcast in nowhere.  :'(

The Mega Drive was successful in Europe as well. :P

SMS and Megadrive were successful in Japan too - they had 3 models of the SMS before Europe got one.
Megadrive had to compete with PC Engine in Japan which had already gained ground, but it did still compete.

Hmm, I read somewhere that it didn't gain the traction it did in North America. Guess I'm wrong.

Yeah that's odd, the SMS worked here and the Megadrive came out quite a bit before the SNES and was top dog for quite a while.

Not true, Mega Drive was huge in Europe at the time and everyone loved it, I wish the games were still being sold on the stores but time's changed.

IIRC, Mega Drive was more famous than Master System.

Sega's best console was/is definitely the Sega Mega Drive, awesome games, awesome machine, awesome classic to own.

In fact, I have two Sega Mega Drive PAL boxed as new and won't take neither out, they're just too precious to play with, for me.

That's a weird way to spell dreamcast.

You think Dreamcast was Sega's best console?

Well, in terms of hardware and controller, it was, but in games and whatnot, it wasn't.

When I bought the boxed Sega Mega Drive, the seller included another one free of charge and plus more games.

I got a couple of copies of Sonic 1 PAL and one of the Genesis version (US).

Yep. I don't know why, but I just get some happy vibes from some of the games. As if they're so Japanese and proud of it. It's a quirky little thing.

Also, Nights into Dreams HD announced.
