Hey guys just wanted to let you all know I've finished the first part of my new Top 100 countdown!
This list is dedicated to the top 100 GameBoy and GameBoy Color games released between 1989 to 2002. It contains both original black-and-white and color titles. Placement was deemed after several hundred candidates that been evaluated in a number of ways including how well each holds up today in terms of playability and enjoyment.
Here's the first ten games, #100 - 91! A handful of the games that made the final list are ones I wouldn't have otherwise even considered. Cheers to you, and cheers to the almighty GameBoy!
So here ya go guys! Enjoy!

YES! Gonna jump in now! Can't wait! Thank you!!!
Spoiler
. I hate to be that guy, but please please stop misusing apostrophes in it's and 90's! :)
Good job Satoshi Matrix!! There's already a few games that I haven't heard of. Looking forward to the rest of the list!
I might be in the minority here, but I always write the apostrophe before the decade.
ie.
'80s
'90s
I assumed it was in place of the 19xx. :-\
That is correct. To not use it is acceptable though. To use it after the numbers is herecy, unless you're talking about something like a legacy (i.e somethiung that the decade owns) and even then it should technically come after. Example being "the 90s' ultimate legacy was one of remorse". You'd be better to refernec "the decade's" though, just because folks will be confused having seen 90's everywhere else. "It's" should only be used for "it is" and never in ownership like "its face was burned".
Like I said, I hate to be that guy! Top read though I really enoy sitting down with a cup of tea to fully digest these.
I'm happy to announce part 2 of my top 100 GameBoy games of all time!
Here's the next ten games, #90 - 81! I hope you guys enjoy this one and sorry about the delay. I had a heck of a time getting some of these screenshots. In case you guys didn't notice, I take all of these screenshots myself and don't simply pull them from other sources.
Anyway, here's the link. Enjoy!

Excellent update as always Satoshi_Matrix! I can't get to grips with the GB Doc. Mario, I need to see the colours to play it on the fast levels, but I might pick it up for old times' sake again. I completed it on the GBA re-release and used to love playing iton two-player with my ex-girlfriend. Girls always excel at these kinds of games, where you have to master one type of gameplay. I've had my ass kicked brutally on Lode Runner by a friend before as well.
I recently bought two flashcarts for ZAS and Trip World, I'll take a look at Resident Evil Gaiden as well.
Alone in the Dark was worth a look but I got bored with it.
Nice to see Solar Striker in there as well. Been playing that recently and reading up on its development history. I think its simplicity was a side-effect of its requirement in the GB portfolio quickly, but that is what I like about it - so I was glad to see that called out.
I've subscribed to this set, I enjoyed the last round so much. I have a lot of gameboy games and I can't wait to see where my new favourites turn up in the list! Right now I'm playing through WarioLand and Picross.
That seems like a lot of fun, 2 player Dr Mario. But I would probably lose too, even if I am fairly good, but I suspect to be beaten by a girl too.
I wonder about Star Wars, is it the same as the NES game? Also, I never made it too far into the Death Star, because I am 30 and don't have time like a 12-year old anymore. But I have read that the death star is unforgivingly difficult. As he says in the German commentary (I speak German fluently) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkjEGxkW16I, just look at it. Check e.g. at 2:20. If you don't know exactly what comes, you will die. With limited continues it will get very tedious.
With youtube clips you don't know if they are cheating with savestates. I think they usually do, but this guy seems to have spent a lot of time with the game.
There's also the factor that you need to find a lot of stuff for later, such as shield for the plane, weapons, and allies, that you may not know in advance. And you bascially need to draw a map for the labyrinth like death star.
So I think a difficulty of "7" for this game is quite understated. I'd like to see anyone here finish the game.
What flashcarts are you going with? I'd like to get one (or a few) myself.
Just the popular 64M GB / GBC flashcart - I'll send you a PM.

Great countdown and a nice mixture of genres; looking forward to the rest!
...dangit saw a new post and thought there was an update - can't wait for the next one!!
Hey long time no see, Top 100 GB thread!
Time FINALLY to unveil part 3, #80-71! enjoy! Hopefully the next part won't take as long.

It feels like I've waited for this for SO long! Keep checking backl every few days so this makes my day.
I even listened to the 60 minute podcast...
By the way, did you pickup any flashcarts? I couldn't get mine to work.
As long as you promise not to put Trip World at #1, I'll keep reading ;).
Oh man, I was reading your entry for Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun - Bangai Rantou-Hen and thinking, "wow, Tecnhos must have used the same engine as Double Dragon II for this." I never realized it was a re-skin of a Kunio title :D
I think we all know what #1 is in this case, well, well in advance.
SHHHHHHHH!

Actually, I don't think it should be discussed at all either - let's save it for later.
LOL, fine fine :-[
I am definitely looking forward to what you put in the top 10, though. I have quite a few ideas myself, so we'll see how well we match up!
New episode is up! Squee! Perfect timing as I sit down on a Sunday morning witha cup of tea :D
Agh! I spoke too soon! Its gone! :(
Time for part 4. Again, sorry these are taking so long. Despite my best efforts they seem to be about a month apart. I'll try to have the next part out before Christmas though as my gift to you guys.

Wordpress has made some internal changes lately, so I've tried to integrate some new features. Let me know if anything is broken, as well as any spelling errors I've overlooked.
I've also added a poll at the end where you the reader can voice your opinion on which of these is your favorite pick.
And as always, enjoy and discuss!
Love your lists! I made a special folder on my Power pak for your top 100 NES games :redcart:
I voted :) I also have a folder in my powerpak for the top ten, as well as trying to get them all CIB.
I figure it's a good way to build up a collection, though there are some other games I'd hoped would make the list, maybe they'll make honourable mentions.
Trying to get all the gameboy games (on your list) loose at least, though I'm having trouble with a few games and I can't get my flashcarts to work. I have to be honest, I don't care so much for the GBC games but you've got me appreciating them a little more. I especially like the colour RPGs like Dragon Quest III etc. though.
Return of the Ninja reminds me a bit of Haggleman 3 too :)
Haha, I think that should be Haggleman 3 reminds you of Return of the Ninja!
I seriously love the GameCenter CX DS titles. I hope there are more in the future, and the second game gets a fan translation. Trogging though the text adventure in Japanese was a chore when it should've been highly enjoyable. Super Demon Returns is well worth the effort though.
The second game has a fan translation in progress, I'm going to hang on until its done as I figure they'll age quite well, however long it takes :)
