Title: what's your favorite famicom puzzle game?
Post by: ulera on October 26, 2012, 07:20:49 pm
I've been getting into dig dug II tonight. It's a quite addicting arcade port. I really wish there was an option to insert quarters into my famicom so I could continue though.

Bubble Bobble on the FDS! Not sure if that counts as a puzzle game though.

I've always been a big fan of Tetris, although the original Tetris on the Famicom is completely different than the one released in the states. The original famicom version had some really sweet music too like "technotris" and others.

Love Tetris, but the Famicom original? The controls drive me nuts! Down on the d-pad to rotate the pieces!? Talk about counter-intuitive.

Tengen Tetris, if you count pirated versions of NES games. :P

The Eggerland and Lolo series is probably my favourite! I also like the two Solomon no Kagi games.

I completely agree! I've always liked the Tetris 2+ Bombliss famicom version, I just like the music on the original famicom version so much better! I love the music that plays when you start up, I think it's called "korobeiniki" or something like that.

I wish there was a famicom picross.

I like Quarth, does that count?  Half shooter, but still half puzzle right?

I think it's more puzzle than shooter or a puzzle disguised as a shooter. And if Bubble Bobble and Dig Dug II counts it should definitely count.

The first Solomon no Kagi could also be seen as a platformer.

I like Lode Runner 2 myself. I spent quite a number of head scratching and hair pulling moments with that one.

Quarth is tricky one.
Sokoban(?, well this is common name on other platforms)
Gorby no pipeline(thanks to senseiman) - kinda tetris, but you have to build a pipe
Tetris.
You can count Othello
