Title: Best option for 8-bit RGB mod?
Post by: ulera on November 19, 2012, 06:49:29 pm
Personally, as much as I would like an RGB modded 8-bit system I don't think I could ever get my hands on a playchoice machine to cannibalize for about $50.

Hypothetically if I did though... which would be the better route to go? I own an AV famicom and an NES, which is the better choice for the mod?

The AV Famicom is nice if you want to keep things looking stock, but the NES has a lot of room to work with inside so you can even install something like a JROK or encoder for component or S-video.

Also, I'd suggest looking at this project as there may finally be a way to get RGB without a PC-10 PPU and without the slightly off color palette that comes with it: http://universalppu.com (http://universalppu.com)
