Title: building a fdsloadr cable?
Post by: 1up on December 25, 2012, 10:34:16 pm
now that i have a working famicom i would like to build a fsdloadr cable but have seen there are a few different guides on building them. one requires removing a AV output from a super nes which i dont really want to do.
so my question is, could anyone guide me on the correct guide and parts required to build one of these?
i was even thinking of buying one from tototek but they have been out of stock for ages. also the one they have in their picture looks like it is different to the guides i have seen as the end connection is some sort of circuit connection?

Solder cable directly to the RAM adaptors PCB.

The .txt file that comes with fdsloadr has all the information you need to build the cable. It's incredibly simple - no circuitry all, just hook it up. The only snag is that it's hard to find a connector that mates with the RAM adapter's connector. Conveniently, you can modify a Nintendo A/V port to work. Or, you can use a piece of circuit board with appropriate edge fingers jammed into the RAM adapter's connector. It's not as clean or neat, but it'll work. Or you can cut the connector off the RAM adapter and add your own. Or you could solder to the RAM adapter board. Or, or, or... it's up to you. There's a thousand ways to do this.
