Some people do not receive email notifications when new pm arrives
So far satoshi_matrix and Martin claim that they do not recieve email notifications. If other members also suffer from this please post here.
Satoshi_matrix is using hotmail and martin is using neostrada.pl i do not know if it is his own domain or whatever the situation is.
I do not think that it is a problem with dreamhost.com because if it was then none of the members would receive email notifications.
I know php so i can help if there is a problem with something.
There is also a setting where you receive a pop-up when you log in and have messages. Either way, if you're selling something, it'd be wise to have a look at the header and see if you have any messages.
I don't think there is a problem with FW, but the other end. It's simply impossible to login and not to see new messages in PM.

i was asking about showing the your php code. Your means written by you
It's not a php issue. There are some mail servers (such as Hotmail) that will block the PM emails. It's not a spam filter thing, but rather an all out rejection. The error logs on the server only give me cryptic error codes and vague explanations, so I'm not entirely sure how to resolve the issue.
I aint getting no e-mails for PMs either (but I already spoke to admins about this).
I just changed the "from" email address from "noreply@myserver.com" (the default) to "noreply@famicomworld.com". I don't know if that will make a difference (good or bad) for anybody, but we'll see.
everyone with gmail accounts check your spam folder and mark them as not spam :) because gmail remembers the old address and now it thinks that the new one is fake so do this and you will be fine
Has anyone noticed a difference in whether the PM emails arrive or not?
I know that gmail thinks they're spam now, but you can tell gmail that they're not.
I know that hotmail was blocking them before, is it still blocking them?
Hotmail, nothing. But that's perfect for me ;D
Hotmail still blocking for me...
Is thre something I can do to get PM alerts back? I check FW more than hotmail, but I'd like to get them back if possible. Some setting I should change in hotmail? FW isn't on any blocked lists...
I'm not sure what else you or I can do. I just sent off a support email to DreamHost to see if they have any suggestions.

Okay, they basically told me that the information that I gave them would be forwarded to their "mail blocks queue", where it will help their team try to get the block removed. They also said that I probably won't receive any kind of notification about when/if it gets resolved. So, I guess sit tight and see if the problem goes away.
The only other solution that I can think of is to setup a Gmail account and use that for your FW account. You can setup the Gmail account to automatically forward all mail to another address. So, the Gmail account would work as a sort of proxy to make sure the mail gets delivered to Hotmail.
For what it's worth, I was getting PM notifications for a while a long time ago, then they stopped a couple months ago, and maybe a week or two ago they started again. So whatever happened it seems to be working for me once more.
I made a change at the end of January that apparently starting making gmail put the PM notifications in the spam folder. I guess gmail figured it out after a few months.
I can also confirm I am getting Hotmail alerts now :)
Thanks!
i'm getting notifications which are delayed for 2-3 days
Yeah mine are also coming in 1-2 days late now, didn't seem the case before around a week ago.
I'm not sure what could be causing the delay. The mail log that I have access to only logs problems, but I guess it's not considered a problem as long as the mail gets to its recipient eventually. I'll do a bit more research and see if there's anything I can do about it.
Same here, I have a several day/about a week lag for notifications.

lemme know if email headers required for your research
Yeah, email headers would probably be helpful. Please PM them to me if you're able to.
Dang no email notification for me now :( and everything was perfect... Oh well i hope soon i start receiving emails again :) ( i am using gmail )
I don't see any reports of email getting rejected by Gmail. Maybe it's just delayed or in your spam folder?
(There was also a very severe power outage a day or two ago in the data center that hosts our mail server, so maybe that has something to do with it...).
I got the email but it was around a hour late strange
I'm getting late e-mails too. Sometimes a day late. Not complaining, just updating.
update: now everything is fine
I'm getting some late PMs but I have a feeling they always did arrive a bit later anyway. It certainly seems fine now at least.
Report from me:
Sometimes the notifications come right away, but often they are delayed up to 1 day.
I visit FW several times a day anyway, so it's no problem for me.
By the way I use the German email provider GMX.
about a month ago I stopped being able to receive notifications.
Ugh. Freakin' Hotmail is blocking our email server again. I'll see what I can do.
Me too, I thought it was because I took my e-mail address off my profile.
Could his be to do with the Outlook switch? Hotmail is now on Outlook so maybe they changed something. Hotmail addresses all work the same etc.
My notifications have also been hit-or-miss over the last couple of weeks, and I'm on Yahoo.

is that why you havent answered my PMs for a few days? :p
yup:) a few others to respond to as well!
Has this been looked in to more? I still can't get notifications.
There's not a lot that I can do about it.
The mail server that we're using is the only one available to us. It works. It always sends out email notifications.
The problem is that some destination mail servers decide to block the server for whatever reason. I have no control over those destination servers.
All that I can do is report the error messages to our web host, who then has to get the hosts of the destination mail servers to unblock our mail server. Obviously, our host has no real control over the destination servers, either. All they can really do is fill out some online forms to petition to get unblocked.
So, it ends up in a cycle like this. Some mail server (like Hotmail) blocks our mail server. I tell our host about it. The host tells Hotmail about it. Then we wait for an indeterminate amount of time. Then maybe Hotmail eventually unblocks us. Then we wait for an indeterminate amount of time. Then Hotmail blocks us again.
I have never received them.
Do you still use the e-mail address you have set up in your profile? They route through that, so it's the first thing to check. When I originally stopped receiving them it's because I had a dud e-mail address in there.
I got an email notification today.

They aren't working again. That was shortlived haha.
