Title: the PAL turbografx 16
Post by: famicomdiskkun on March 23, 2013, 03:53:37 am
i have found out that NEC made a entire prodction run of the pal version, but was never released due to the failure of the us version
-the pal version has a 50hz to 60hz converter the same as the playstation and plays all turbografx games.
to buy one:
go to ebay uk and search "turbografx"
-they did not have -16 at the end of the title

The PAL Turbografx runs at 50Hz only. Good for some shooters, sucks for any other games

O well, at least Europeans got it at all anyway, i think it is more attractive and it comes with AV built in, so i am not a complainer  :)

But we didn't really got it as it wasn't released. Oh well, this cool info anyway. :)

What hurts is no known game development.
At least I'm not aware of merely one single line of program code ever written with specific intent for the PAL Turbografx.

They were probably ready to start converting NTSC games to PAL when they decided to cancel it. Or maybe a batch of PAL optimized Turbografx games exists somewhere in some warehouse.
