We had a similar thread about Rock Man at our old forum: HERE (http://famicomworld.proboards58.com/index.cgi?board=famicom&action=display&thread=1148170036). I don't remember which I picked back then. I'm fond of them all. I like a level or two from each one. I'd have to go with either 4 or 5 because of cool levels in those, like that one where you get to walk on the ceiling. I don't like 1, just because I've only played it once.
Come to think of it, I hate 5 because of Gravity Man. :P What you said, JC. But 5 is pretty much my favorite because of all the cool music, especially Napalm Man. :)
What's the Rock Man with the level where you shoot an enemy and the screen goes black, you shoot another enemy and the screen lights up again? That's a cool level. :D
I know exactly which one you're talking about, too. I think it's 3?
Anyhow, I don't really know what mine would be. I think 3 has my favorite level design, but I like 5's bosses best. And there isn't really one I strongly dislike, so...let's go with 4. That's the one that had 'Dr. Cossack' as the main villian, correct?
Unless the X series is included, then my least favorite is X5-X7. ;D
most favorite is 8 and least is 6

At first I thought you were talking about Quick Man's stage in Mega Man 2 that had those flame bowl robots, but then realized you could be talking about Shadow Man's stage in Mega Man 3 that has those illusion devices that makes the whole stage appear as stars, but now I realize you're talking about Bright Man's stage in Mega Man 4 that has those light bulb robots & those firework walking things. :P Capcom really tried messing with you. But I'm disappointed in how that was done - if you destroy just one of those things when there are others on the screen, everything still turns dark. :-\
Yeah, that's it...Bright Man. Cool stage nonetheless.
And if I got to pick the worst boss it would be the train dude. He's just a strange thing to see. :P

Charge Man? I think he's a riot. He looks like a half-assed Transformer.
Does anybody know if Plant Man was really a contest winner's design? In Game History class, someone said they knew the person (or knew the person of the person) who created it for a contest, but wasn't credited in the game or something. :-\
My favourite Mega Man is definitely Nr. 3.
Just because it was the first NES game I bought by myself. ;)
Least favourite is part 4. Don't know why, I just don't seem to like it.

That's what I heard as well, but you know how rumors go...
Wikipedia states that the two contest designs were Knight Man (Canada) & Wind Man (USA), but that's Wikipedia. :-\

I can confirm that. It was in an issue of Nintendo Power

That's right! mega man on the gameboy were so hard to beat because of the screen size well at least that's my opinion.
My favorite Rockman game has to be Rockman 2: Dr Wily's Revenge. Its one of the Famicom's best games and I think its one of Capcom's most legendary. I least like Rockman 7 because the game's final Wily is beyond godly hard. I'm all for challange, but the battle is simply unfair in that some of his attacks are unavoidable no matter what you do. The best Rockaman battles are the ones where you must dodge while successfully landing hits. Rockman 5 is a perfect example of this. You can if good enough, go through the entire game and never take a hit by dodging.
For emulator lovers, check out this ROM hack:
http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/132/
Normally I never play ROM hacks because they are usually made by 13 year olds who think its funny to edit sprites in River City Ransom to make the pipes look like penises, but this one is truly special. The hacker took the time and effort to completely redesign every stage in the game, change boss behaviours to make them far more aggressive, added challange, graphics and sprites, he even added new music that didn't appear in the game, including the theme from the Megaman TV show (FIGHTING ROBOT MEGAMAN) To truly appriate this man's work, as soon you start it up, check out Woodman's stage. Its sure to being a smile to anyone.
You'll need the Megaman 2 ROM and a patching program to run it.
Favourite megaman 4
least favourite x3
Fav: 2 or 4
Least Fav: X6
Rockman 2 of course!! Great graphics, interesting characters, fun levels & good music etc. It was one of the most anticipated titles in the UK back in 1990.
Rockman 4 being my least because it is damn frustrating at times >:(

Frustrating? I find it to be quite easy. However I've beaten it tons of times so it's pretty much a breeze for me now.
Favorite: It's a toss up between 2 and 7, with slight advantage to 7. I'll concede that the final boss in 7 is really tough, but I still think the game rules especially since you can hear Ghosts and Goblins music in Shade Man's stage. I feel this game is just all around jam packed with sweetness.
Mega man 2 aside from kicking infinite ass is special, for me, since it was the first game I bought as a child with my own money.
Least favorite: I'd say 6. It seemed like they weren't even trying this time. Putting shades on Wily and calling him Mr X was kind of weak. Still a decent game though since it is Mega man, but still a little disappointing.
It's a tie for me between Mega Man 2 and 3.
Mega Man 2 is a better game, But Mega Man 3 has one of my favorites, Proto Man.
It's all about my main man "Cut Man." He is too FUNKY!
Mega man the Wily Wars (Genesis, PAL version) is my choice for best game. It has Mega man 1,2 and 3 in it, with various changes and options.
That way I don't have to decide between 2 and 3 which are dueling favorites.
Mega man 64 was drivel.
Megaman 2 was my fav and still is, by a long shot. I hated the Megaman battle network games. :P
My favorite is Megaman 2, by far.
Megaman 64 is the worst ever though. Worse than the card battle GBA games.
I liked the Megaman Legends series the best.
