...sort off. The Wii portion. I was being stupid and tried to install an IOS through WAD Manager, so I'm completely screwed I guess. But it only affects Wii mode, everything else works.
So, what are the chances of a Wii U update fixing what I f*cked up? Given that there's one next week, I hope it does. If not, I guess I have to call Nintendo and play stupid.

I should add that I have no priiloader installed. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Perhaps I can call in after the update goes live, and blame it on that?

Didn't you read on the internet before doing the installation? There are often warning about doing this on the Wii U.
I guess you can only blame yourself.
And the update may not fix this at all. The update doesn't have all the files to replace what you broke (unless Nintendo want to update the whole Wii portion). I guess you may have to call Nintendo ::)

I just realized this. The Wii system updates only removed homebrew software, not replace IOS's if I'm not mistaken. Even then, we don't know if Nintendo even plans on touching the Wii side of the console again. But still, I can pray.
God damnit, I'm going to have to send it in. I'll do it after the update, I really want to see all the changes :)

New idea. This could potentially be terrible, and I most likely won't do it. I could always pull the plug during next week's update, and have a legitimate brick for them to fix. But that doesn't guarantee that they fix the Wii brick. Ughhhhhh I am so stupid.
If you're lucky and they are lazy you may get a new console instead of a repaired one.
Unless they detect why the Wii side is bricked, though. :/
I'll think of myself as a pioneer. I will send in my system (assuming the update doesn't fix it) and document what Nintendo says/does. Besides the update-bricks that occured around December, I haven't heard of anyone bricking a Wii U. So we'll see what happens.
They will know you played with it and you'll have a restore firmware fee. It is expensive. Best bet is to find a legitimate excuse around it. Feignng ignorance will not work - can you say you picked it up from a store used?
Or buy a new one on credit card from a place with a no quibble refund policy, say it doesn't work.
I think nfortunately you are facing a large bill, you really need to read all the notes before you try this sort of thing and also refrain from running any kind of homebrew on a current console as well.
I was going to say my "brother" played with it while I was away, and it didn't work when I came back, then proceed to beg and plead. By expensive, I guess you mean in the $150-200 range, right?

The thing is, I hacked my Wii with no problems. Had priiloader, never bricked, etc. I didn't plan on messing with my Wii U yesterday, which is why I didn't have the necessary software installed.
It would be interesting to know if the Wii U has to install some update like the Wii had to when you wanted to play a certain game. If it sometimes happen, you can say there were a power outage when it happened. But you'd need to check if the Wii U ever ask for an update on the Wii part.
Nintendo hasn't updated the Wii firmware since 2010 I believe. 4.3 is the latest, and probably last. Like L_E_T said, they'll know I messed with it if they check. Hopefully, they'll be compassionate enough to not let my "brother" ruin my Wii U experience.
They won't be compassionate, trust me I've seen the repair bills. To fix a Wii with this issue was the same price as another Wii, about $125-150 if you wanted it back. You may be better off trading it into a Gamestop and getting a new one. Nintendo will know what you've done and they are understandably not pleased when they find it.
Also, they won't ask you before fixing. They'll fix, send the invoice and send it back when you've paid. If you have the money to pay it, go for it. But I would say you're best off trading it into Gamestop for cash or credit against something else a his stage. Keep your account but wipe it before you take it in.
Either way you're going to be out of pocket in this. I would put it down to an expensive lesson. Sorry, I'm not being an ass but I think it's more a case of minimising the cost you now have to cough up, rather than finding a way around it. Nintendo will not offer you any sympathy in the form of a slap on the wrist. This costs them money at the end of the day and they tend to set an example.
Have a think - do some research and make an informed decision. Don't make an emotional or biased decision if you want to minimise the damage to your wallet.

If you have the cash from Gamestop already there's not a lot they can do. Same policy they offer their customers.
It's up to them if they do the check or not. I guess it's 50/50 but worse case if they find out you can play dumb and walk out with your WiiU having lost nothing.
If it was me I'd give it a shot, but I wouldn't have done that to my WiiU anyway to be honest so my personal opinion is kinda moot here. Just to clarify, all of this is just my personal take on things. Whatever you decide, it must be your decision only of course. Please don't tamper with it further though.
Yeah, I learned my lesson. I figure that if I send it in, the worst that can happen is that I have to pay for return shipping. If I trade it in at Gamestop, I lose all of my downloaded games. So if Nintendo doesn't fix it for free, and I don't pay for them to do it, I'll have to wait until Nintendo actually makes a decent account system (they said they're working on it) then cut my loses with the Gamestop route.
In conclusion, I am stupid.

Crazy idea, but it may be the cheapest. I could have a programmer reflash the NAND chip for me. That would be less expensive than any of the other options.
And void the warranty if it all goes wrong? That's brave.
I voided the warranty when I installed the homebrew channel. I'm just thinking out loud, putting together all of my options.

So, after researching my options, it appears that I only have one; send it to Nintendo. I actually had no way to prevent this, aside from, you know, not doing it. Priiloader, bootmii, and all the other brick-prevention software cannot be put on the Wii U's Wii mode. I also couldn't have gotten the NAND keys, which prevents me from getting the NAND reflashed.
I'll accept the bill, whatever it is they give me. Perhaps Reggie's face will shine upon me, and Nintendo will forgive my sins for no cost. But whatever, lesson learned. Don't fuck shit up, kids.

I'll check in tomorrow to report whether or not the update does anything. Perhaps if it does a check to see any modified system files/ homebrew programs in both Wii and Wii U mode, it'll delete and replace them like it did with Wii updates. But there are too many "ifs" right now to tell, considering this is the first time something like this will be tried.
If not, I'm SOL, and I'll cough up the money if they offer to fix it.
EDIT: Is there any reason why Nintendo wouldn't be sniffing out homebrew files? This may be my saving grace. I'll just try not to get my hopes up.

It's amazing how Nintendo can disappoint with even system updates. Seriously, Nintendo? Just release the damned thing.
Well, the update is out. I'll update in about 45 minutes to report whether it fixed it or not.

EDIT: God damnit, Nintendo. Don't scare me like that. My GamePad screen went off for a few seconds while updating.

Theres isn't. Priiloader, bootmii, etc. don't currently work in the Wii mode on Wii U.

Alright, so off to Nintendo it goes. They said it'll take 1-2 weeks, so we'll see what happens.
It's on its way to California, I should know what's going to happen by next Friday.

Update. It finally reached California. So far the Repair Order page says it's under warranty, with $0.00 repair price. We'll see where this goes.

What I'm thinking is that since it's Wii mode, they won't be as strict. Perhaps they just see that it doesn't work and transfer the data to a new console or repair the OS. Then again, you'd know more about the process than I do.

Alright, a little debriefing:
- They gave me another unit, for no cost
- It looks like this one's been refurbished. It's got scuffs where the stands insert, and it was covered in some gunk. Nothing a little cleaning couldn't fix.
- The only data I lost were my Wii save files. They weren't too important, but I know how to get some back.
Once again, I thank my masters for their mercy. The blessed Iwata's grace has saved yet another soul.
