Title: strange controller problem
Post by: aha2940 on April 23, 2013, 10:52:54 pm
Hi!

I recently got an NES with two gamepads. I tried it, it shows image and sounds fine, but the controllers do not work. When I press A in the first gamepad, the game acts as if I'm pressing all the buttons at the same time (in double dragon II, billy jumps, kicks and goes up in the screen every time I press A). None of the other buttons seem to do anything. Both gamepads in the first port do the same. I think the problem is in the NES board. What can I check on it? can this be due to bad contacts in the game port? I have a spare NES board, so I can take pieces out of it and replace them if needed, but cannot use it to test (missing CPU,PPU and RF box).

Thanks!!

I would first look at the controllers since they are easier to disassemble, then look at the terminals where it's connected to the main board. See if you see anything weird.
