Title: FDS pirated games
Post by: Clessy on May 07, 2013, 07:33:55 pm
Ok so i've just got into a fds(twin famicom actually) and im kinda confused.

I keep seeing that there are plenty of pirates wrote to the disk system.

The thing is i've also seen you need a gamedoctor for them. this makes little to no sense to me as they look like altered or faked carts.

My question is will Hong Kong pirates work without a game doctor and where do I find them. So many games reported being ported to them yet i've only seen 1 ever and it was Super Mario brothers 3 and it sold on ebay for like $15 with a package and manual.

Had I of known it didnt come out on fds i'd of gotten it without question.

Really just looking for the rockman games or final fantasy if there was a port.

There are many kinds of pirates, normal pirated carts (converted FDS games or not) usually work on any Famicom as is. Game Doctor copiers can copy carts with simple mappers (Rockman probably works and maybe Final Fantasy too) to FDS disks in a special format and play them I think.

I don't know much about pirates to tell the truth. But member ericj's homepage http://www.famicomdisksystem.com/ has lots of information on the FDS and Game Doctors.

definitely hit up ericj with a pm. the man is a genius, I've bought fds pirates off him and they are always 100%.
