Famicom World

As a NES and Famicom fan, having just watched the Nintendo stream, I'm trying hard not to want a WiiU now.

Man, that sprite of Hyper Mega Man from MvC1 is beautiful! Nothing will ever top the look of beautiful, hand-drawn 2-D animation.

Respect to Nintendo for actually referencing Flame Man's power. I get happy whenever someone acknowledges that Mega Man 6 exists.

Actually on that note Rockman 6 is going for the same price as Rockman 2 these days - what's the deal there?  Is it just enjoying a revival like Rockman 7??

I'm not sure, I've noticed that 1, 2 and 6 are the most expensive of the original Rockman games. I'm guessing that the massive popularity of 2 is what drives up the price... as for 1 and 6? Well, I would think that the high price of their NES counterparts contributes to their price, but then again... 5 is the most expensive one on NES, and it's cheap as hell on Famicom, so I'm not quite sure.

I figured maybe there were limited runs of 6 or something, but that doesn't really seem to be the case.  Yes 1 is the most expensive on Famicom as the original title in the franchise, 2 because it's the best (it is!), but 6??

I remember watching the GameMakers episode on Mega Man, which featured lots of interviews with INAFKING. Apparently the original Rockman's release was rather limited because they weren't sure if it'd sell well, so I'd say it's at least a bit more rare than the other five.

I stand by number 6 being the best Rockman game, hell, one of the Robot Masters there is Mecha-T.Hawk! But I mean, they're all good. I think one's opinion for best Rockman game might boil down to the installment with their favorite bosses and environments.

I think 6 is expensive because it didn´t have a PAL release. We europeeans are ready to pay more for it. Still, if 5 is the most expensive one? The second hand market for NES is crazy, I´ve accepted it long ago.

Back on subject, the promo for Mega Man in SSB plays so well on nostalgia. Really makes me wish for a good Mega Man game made with modern tecnique...

I think people simply have realized that Megaman 6 is an excellent game in the series. Plus what you all said about it.

It's regarded as the best looking, they really pushed the boat out.  Plus you know it's the 6th game, so 6 times better than Rockman 1 and 3 times better than Rockman 2.  :bub:

It´s got the weakest soundtrack in the NES legacy though  :-\

I'd completely disagree there. I'd say its soundtrack is the 2nd best of the series, after Rockman 3. The final boss theme is perfect, and happens to be my favorite song from a Rockman game, makes for an incredibly intense final battle. Not to mention the standard boss theme, Knight Man's theme, Yamato Man's theme, Tomahawk Man's theme, Wind Man's theme, Flame Man's theme... I absolutely adored the soundtrack of Rockman 6, but perhaps it's just me. Out of all the Rockman games on Famicom, I'd say Rockman 5 had my least favorite soundtrack, which isn't saying much because it was still pretty good, and it's a wonderful game overall.

I'm just waiting for a Mega Man 6 release on Wii U VC. They already have 1-4, so I think it'll come sometime soon.
