Title: Taito Chase HQ
Post by: nerdynebraskan on August 24, 2013, 01:12:58 pm
I'm curious about Taito Chase HQ. I'd overlooked the game when I made my master list of wanted FC games, thinking it was just a simple racing game. But apparently it's more of a fighting/missions while driving kind of game. And I heard that it's even compatible with the Arkanoid Vaus controllers? Is this true? Is the game any good?

Arcade game is awesome, but this one is not.
I have it it's not a good port for whatever reason.

I actually reviewed it. it was my first Famicom game. My favorite racing game on nes/famicom.

That's a pretty great review.  It's not a shit game by any means, I guess I'm spoiled by the arcade and PCE versions.

If it was converted by an unknown outfit (Disco) then that might explain it.  The label art is awesome though!

Interesting. I do think I will have to pick one up now and try it for myself.

I might be wrong but wasn't Disco a pseudonym for Taito? ???

A simple Google search didn't find me too much about Disco, but it looks like all references to them are as developers for games published by Taito. If they weren't the same company, they do appear to have been a small, second-party developer working exclusively for Taito. They seem to have contributed to games including Rainbow Islands, Chuka Taisen, and Tetra Star. Doesn't seem like a knock against their quality is in order here.
