Title: Bob-Bob's massive WTB/Wish List thread
Post by: Bob-Bob on July 12, 2014, 05:34:02 pm
To prevent myself from missing any further deals, I decided to make a big WTB thread that covers every Famicom game I want for the time being. Naturally I'll update this as time goes on. Removing games I got, adding new games I want, etc.

Games I've seen for sale on here:
Layla
Super Contra
Puyo Puyo
Rodland
The Quest of Ki
Chō Wakusei Senki Metafight (Blaster Master)
Pajama Hero Nemo (Little Nemo)
Jigoku Gokuraku Maru (Kabuki Quantum Fighter)
Kaiketsu Yanchamaru (Kid Niki: The Radical Ninja)
Rolling Thunder
Matendoji (Conquest of the Crystal Palace)
Seirei Densetsu LICKLE (Little Samson)
Kekkyoku Nankyoku Daibōken (Antarctic Adventure)
Terra Cresta
Burai Fighter
Bomber King (Robo-Warrior)
Metal Storm
Guevara (Guerilla War)

Games I haven't seen for sale on here:
Abarenbō Tengu (Zombie Nation)
Gun-Dec
Adventures of Lolo 2 (Adventures of Lolo III)
Daiku no Gen-san 2: Akage no Dan no Gyakushū
Kaiketsu Yanchamaru 3: Taiketsu! Zōringen
Recca
Magic John (Totally Rad)

If anybody has any of the ones in the latter list for sale, or can point me towards a decent auction, please let me know.  ;D

Games in red are those I'm prolly not gonna be able to afford for a long while.

LOL, I have most of the games on the first list  ;D

I just wish I had enough money to buy all of it at once. I spent my birthday money buying the FCD from Jessica and a bunch of rarer games from gamer888.  :-[

Good luck finding that Metal Storm game! It's a pretty rare one and when it shows up it usually fetches top dollar (I paid about $70 for my loose copy about a year ago).

I see one loose on Yahoo Auctions for ¥13000 and a CIB one that's currently at ¥11000 with 12 hours of bidding to go.

You could always try your luck at this one though! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Jyuryoku-Soukou-Metal-Storm-No-Box-Instruction-F-/400741118648

Oh Jess, thank you so much! I'll have to keep my hawk eyes on that one for the next two days.  :o

LOL, I know what you mean, I get the same way with shopping for stuff like this :)

I cannot sell you my rockman partial collection as I have promised them to someone else. eBay is your friend.

I prolly shoulda stated next to it that I'm still currently unsure how just badly I want it as it's actually pretty text-heavy. I'll think about it.  :-[

Might I recommend getting a Powerpak or Everdrive in the meantime?  Brillliant for translations, prototypes and hacks...

Maybe, but that's technically a form of emulation. I really wanted to own the actual carts.  :-\

I get that, same here - but it really helps when trying to play games like Famicom Wars or RPGs.

You can still own the carts, I sometimes get them reflashed in English.

What would you be willing to pay for Rockman 1?  Would $40 cut it?

I decided I'd figure out text-based games and RPGs later. Primarily I collect games that are largely playable without having to know how to read Japanese.

In fact, there's a specific reason I want to collect the games I've listed up there. I was wondering if anybody could figure it out.  ;)

Right now I'm waiting on an eBay auction for a complete Rockman set that goes off several days from now. If I end up losing that, I'll get back to you on the Rockman 1 cart.  :D

I totally second what L__E__T said.  The Everdrive N8 is awesome.  It'll make you feel so much better when you have a loose copy of Final Fantasy 2 and are now able to actually play it translated effortlessly.  That's probably one of the best buys I've had in Famicom collecting.  They're not cheap, but completely worth it.

Once Krikzz perfects FDS sound this will then be the ultimate tool to preserve the FDS library.

I don't like that fact that you can't change disk side however you want (can't even see the intro in Doki Doki or Zelda) so the Everdrive isn't very good for FDS IMHO. Even though the sound was significantly improved to the point that it has become bearable.

There's no emulation involved unless you play a game that's using expansion audio on a flashcart. And as LET said, owning a flashcart won't stop us from collecting games!

Well, I'll consider it as an option for games that would be unplayable otherwise (e.g. games that need a translation patch). Otherwise, imma focus on collecting the real deal.  ;D

Well I just lost an auction for Abarenbō Tengu. Don't know if/when I'll see it again.  :'(

Oops - I'm guessing that's the auction I recently won.  To be fair I did have a massive bid on it, it's quite rare and I was prepared to pay a hefty premium for it.

There's a CIB copy online though if you wanted that.  It's not necessarily overpriced, but it is expensive.

Generally, this title does attract attention as the US version is very rare and you know how NES collectors are.

Was it one of hit-japan's auctions? And was the final bid $46.56? If so, that's the one I was bidding on.

This is getting weird. We're competing against one another for the same thing.  :P

Yes it was, sorry.  I had a bid of well over a hundred bucks on that one though that I placed as soon as I saw it listed, if that makes any difference.

Just keep an eye on Senseiman's thread - get a notification on it so that as soon as it's updated, you can get an order in, I don't think you'll find better deals elsewhere.

He very rarely has games like Tengu though. I wonder if maybe I can ask him to act as a proxy for me.  :-[

Made a minor update. I recently acquired a few games I wanted on eBay, but unfortunately I missed that Metal Storm auction.  :'(

So I'm finally back after over a month, and I thought I'd bring this thread back from the dead and update my original post just to see where I stand on my collection. It still looks like I have a ways to go.  :'(

Also, I'm planning on making a separate thread for a different sort of collection, one that has less to do with the Famicom specifically. Do you think guys would be willing to help me out there?

So upon my recent purchase from senseiman I decided to bump this on the off chance anybody might have any of the rest of the games I want for sale. Original post has been appropriately modified. ;D

Updated again. I found a couple games on eBay, but I kinda overpaid for them.  :(

Another long-overdue update!

Didn't think I would, but I managed to find Western Kids.  ;D

Down to only a scant few.

With no more senseiman I dunno who I'm gonna buy the rest from, if at all. Maybe I'll have to give up Famicom collecting for good pretty soon.  :'(
