Title: famicom controller refurb metal finish
Post by: hvc01 on August 24, 2014, 11:12:03 pm
Hi,

Has anybody had success refurbishing the metal faceplate on the famicom controllers? I would be interested in any advice you could give me. Specifically what is the best way to remove the faceplate? I am looking at electroplating the hell out of my famicom controllers. Many thanks.

I would thinking electroplating and the chemicals used would damage ether the glue holding it on or the black printing on it. if you are lucky every so often you can find replacement for the gold stickers on ebay but they are like $30(not sure how much electroplating cost). Other than that I would recommend getting new controllers with good face plates and replace the entire controller. As for removing the gold plates they are just glued on and you can peal them off.

Will see how I go getting the plate off first. Thanks  :)
