Hello. Today, I wanted you to know about Famimaga, also known as Family Computer Magazine. It's a magazine published by Tokuma Shoten (a company which later worked with Disney in 1996 to make English dubs of Studio Ghibli's anime films like Kiki's Delivery Service or Spirited Away) and is famous for a lot of Japanese-produced video games advertising on most pages. Famicom-kun, the anthropomorphic, blue robotic Famicom console, is the magazine's mascot and often appears on the top of the magazine's logo.
Most of the magazine had comics, but one of these were something I am familar with. Hiroshi Takase, better known for Super Mario-Kun (not to be confused with Yukio Sawada's Super Mario-Kun comics) and the live-action Death Note film, had made comics published in the Famimaga magazine, called "Disk-kun's Manga Topics" and "Famimaga Journal Topics", which are game-reviewing comics where Disk-kun, a mascot of Famicom Disk System, plays a lot of games that advertised to promote their release. In these comics, there is a black version of Disk-kun, who serves as a yellow Disk-kun's rival, and is a representative of the illegal copy of a disk. Both Disk-kuns are called Yellow (the main character) and Black (the rival), respectively. Of course, Disk-kun was a main character in the comics.
While Yellow is an official trademark of Nintendo, Black and all the other characters of the comics are original Famimaga characters. A Famicom sage was Yellow's mentor and spirit guide. One of the comics, called "Guwanbare ○○○○" (also by Hiroshi Takase), shows how Yellow was born from the Disk Writer. At the same time, Black was also born (not shown) and lets Yellow to visit the building containing the Famicom Disk System attacted to a Famicom. At one point, Yellow labels himself (with "Nintendo" and a game's label, that's all). That's not all, because Janken Disk Jō, a game that I discovered back in 2010 or 2012 or so (I can't remember), turns out to be based on the one of those Disk-kun comics that I came across a few days ago. There is not much more information about Disk-kun's Manga Topics and its spin-offs, unless you understand Japanese and wanted to translate the comics for me.
I found these comics on Google when I type "Famimaga Diskun manga" in Japanese. Amazingly surprising at will!

EDIT ON 6/29/2017: I figured out that the Black Disk-kun is actually an anthropomorphized software disk called Disk Hacker, which is made by an adult game company called Hacker International, which is famous for making pornographic games. Disk Hacker allows anyone to copy Famicom Disk System games to the original black disk.

You're welcome. I'm the only one in America that saw these comics. I think the black Disk-kun looks menacing. Back in 2012 I think, I searched for the ending for Janken Disk Jo to see what they look like, and when I first saw Black in that ending, I thought he was a stoned Disk-kun.
Makes me feel better about putting a mouth on the Disk-kun icons. :)

Diskun is described as a bit of a tennen (天然), but I'm not sure what you would say in English. In Swedish I'd probably say spontaneous but I think in English you can say "a natural" for this kind of person? The dictionary says "natural airhead" but that's very specific since I don't think tennen necessarily means that you are stupid. It's an affectional term used for people that easily acts spontaneously or speaks without thinking.

How come I see that Black turned yellow by the effects of seven balls? Plus he turns his body black back?
Yes that's how I understood it. It doesn't explain the details and I have only skimmed parts of the manga, so I might have misunderstood it though.

That's certainly possible. What part do you think is wrong and why?
I haven't read or translated anything else. It looks like it's mostly a collection of random photos (some that are totally unreadable) and scans of parts of various Diskun manga. And they all have long names that makes them become sorted in random order if sorted alphabetically (sorting after the time stamp helps a bit but they are still out of order).

Nope, there's no problem with that translation. It's pretty good actually.

Could be an allusion to Dragon Ball, or maybe the explanation is inside some comic.

Would make sense. DB is one of the hugest things ever in Japan and it has a big following.

If those started in or after July 1987 but before 1988, large influences for Black's color were likely Tonkachi Editor and Kosodate Gokko.
