Unfortunately, used NES Minis still go for $130 without even the box. I doubt anyone will sell you just the board either, you'd have to get a out of box one.

I think that's very slim - you'd be better off just buying an official if that's what you want, and using the fake shell for something else (like a Raspberry Pi build) which will be in turn a hell of a lot cheaper and also alot better IMO.

I have a Raspberry Pi 3B, it's not better. My NES Classic can do all the emulation as well but without requiring me to reformat my SD card (I saved my disc image for that reason). Raspberry Pi is a nice build though but I highly recommend copying your disc image the moment you get it the way you want.

When I say it's better - I mean it's better in the amount of emulators and performance options, plus USB controllers offers more opportunities, as much as I like the Wii connection.  For me, having a portable CPS3 box is a big win!  So it's better for me and I think because it offers more it's fair to say it's better, but I take on board there may be some added challenges with that.  I'm looking forward to getting stuck in to it all though!
