Post by: aarkay14 on July 13, 2018, 05:08:07 am
Dear Modders and specialists!

I have been trying my desoldering skills without luck and have been breaking my famicoms 1 by 1! I cannot take it anymore and need a person who can desolder all my famicom's PPU and CPU and socket them in place neatly! Please let me know who can do it or point me to an experienced person! I dont know what is wrong.. but I am frustrated and need help now :( :(  :'(

Somebody living near Japan will be awesome! and offcourse I will pay him for the effort and return shipping on PayPal!

-Rama

What is your toolset? I mean, you have desoldering tool? How many FC we talking about?

Of course you know me Rama, I could help. Just a matter of fitting in time depending on how many. Also just the CPU PPU?

I understand you, I can't desolder anything either (my soldering iron is maybe too weak?) except for things I soldered myself. Although I remember reading at some forum (probably here or Nesdev) that socketing CPU or PPU (don't remember) made things not work correctly because of the extra resistance or capacitance introduced by the socket. What do I know though.

Socketing any chip will make the PCB does not fit anymore to the shell :)

I have many consoles with socketed chips and it doesn't feel like anyhing's wrong. But of course in time there can be problems when the contacts start oxidising.
