Title: Contributor's Thread
Post by: JC on August 20, 2006, 02:09:23 pm
We love it when members submit content for FW. You can submit info and/or pics by e-mailing what you've got to me or by posting the goods here. If you have any questions about submitting what you've got, let us know here.

Something to remember: We won't put just anything on the site; the pics must be good and the info must be confirmed.

Thanks. :)

I like to mess around in photoshop when I have time to kill here's some stuff I made real quick, feel free to use it anyone, if you want bigger sizes just ask!

Holy shit man, fucking awesome!! Damn better than anything I could do. I guess that's why you're the advertising dude and I'm the federal employee pushing paper.

EDIT: I took another look and was amazed again. Neat. Simply cool. I'll see what I can do with them. :)

Cool man, glad ya like! I was wanting to contribute in some way and figured I'd use some of what I know to help out. If you want to use any of it feel free, if you want me to adjust something or have a cool idea let me know and we could colaborate.

Oh and BTW, my advertising job doesn't allow me to work on anything this fun haha! I mostly design shitty emails for companies that people automatically trash and the occasional website. And I'm sure you're benefits are kick-ass compared to mine, don't you get to retire after 25 years as a federal employee? I wish there were federally employed graphic designers!

Post by: JC on October 19, 2006, 07:07:38 am
Graphic design is awesome. I just got Photoshop last week and haven't had much time to mess around with it. But I will soon.

And I guess I fibbed a little on my employment. I'm a federal contractor, so I don't get the benefits. I usually just call myself a federal employee because people think it sounds boring and don't start asking questions. So, no benefits and actually I'll soon be quitting my job to move from DC to NM. I'm trying to figure out what the heck to do with myself...but, I'm only 22.

Anyway, cool stuff. You should look into getting more into graphic design. Find a job that's more entertaining. That's what I'm trying to do. :)

Hi folks,

I bought a Datach system last yr on ebay.  It is an interesting system that utilize a barcode system to play games (It comes with Dragonball Z).  I was thinking of doing a write-up on it.

Is there any interest in seeing a write-up?

BTW, there is actually one on ebay for sale.

I have made a program using visual basic to determine the age of a users famicom based on the users inputs into checkboxes. I want it to be free of charge and downloadable on this site, is that possible?

Hmm, the entire program is self explanatory. No instructions are needed. I will just email you a copy of it

I sent it to you. It is inside a rar inside of a zip because gmail doesnt let you send exe's without some clever compressing

I sent you another one this time with the entire build folder. try it out. the exe is in the debug and bin folders in addition to the release and my project folders

are you trying to run it on  a mac?
Title: Re: Contributor's Thread
Post by: kite200 on February 16, 2007, 10:46:29 pm
It works fine for me, this is bizzare. it could be because of the compression though, is there some way you can let me upload an exe
Title: Re: Contributor's Thread
Post by: JC on February 17, 2007, 10:53:16 am
I retrieved the .exe from the JC folder, but it's still not working. It got a little bit further, popping open DOS, but then it says "The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction." And it won't let me continue with the program.

Took me a bit to download that separate program you mentioned in your e-mail, but I got it. And the good news is that your program works. I like it. I would like to figure out some easy way of incorporating it directly into the site, but if not, I'll put the file on the site for downloading, much like I just did.

I can try to incorporate it into the website for you. Just let me do it after I get back from Palm Springs (give me 2 days) and then it should be in your inbox :)

Hi people, I've been bussy with my work, but the Argentinean is back, I have a suggestion, well, it's not a suggestion it's more like a contribution, I have several pirate carts and I want to write some reviews for your Pirate section, sadly I'm not a good english speaker, so maybe some of you can fix some confusive stuff on my writing.
I write reviews and I have a site in spanish, but this is going to be the first time that I want to write something for an english site, so if you are agree I can send some reviews with pics of my carts / screens of my own. :)

Regards.

Switchstance.

I am sending you (via email) information and links to my pictures (as opposed to links to other people's stuff) of three items for your accessories site. I've tried to write as much info as I can for the items. If you need other pictures I can take some for you.

The first is the Mahjong controller by Capcom, the second is the Game Repeater, and the third is the Joy Radar.

Do you need anything more than just a short write-up and images? Anything specific?

Hope I can help a great site,

How would you guys like a section on the FW homepage about Famicom-related books and magazines?

I've made a thread like that once:
http://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=207.0 (http://www.famicomworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=207.0)

I thought it might be nice to have a short review with some pics of every book, info on availability, price, etc. on the main site.
I also have almost all copies of the retro game magazines Gameside and its predecessors "Used Games" and Yuugee", which often feature Famicom stuff.

I could at least contribute contents for all the stuff I own.

Would you guys be interested in a page of info on powering / hooking up / using Famicoms for folks in PAL countries? I get questions all the time about it by PM from here and other forums, and from my YouTube account. Sadly a lot of people seem to rush out and buy regular old Famicoms without realising it won't work on a PAL TV. I know because that's exactly what I did to begin with :(

Shinkai (translated to God World) is an adventure game that was being made by Toei Animation for the Famicom. It seems that players would have took the role of a dead guy, or something.

Super Dog Booby: Akachan Daibouken no Maki (translated to Super Dog Booby: Baby Adventure Volume), is a platform game that was being made by Jaleco or Taito for the Famicom. The game was playable at a 1991 gaming event.

I don't really see how you couldn't have known about Unseen64 if you hotlinked images straight from the website.  Generally someone like yourself who claims to have knowledge in this topic wouldn't just go to Google Images and grab a picture. They would know exactly where the picture came from.

Title: Legend of Zelda Disk Prototype (for prototypes article)
Post by: FamiGamer86 on May 21, 2015, 10:15:48 am
Legend of Zelda (FDS)
The Legend of Zelda prototype comes on a white Nintendo development disk. Unusually, it lacks the usual labels of one of these disks, instead having a ZEL-B on the B-side of the disk, and no label on the A-side.
