Sure beats Dominoes' freakin' 5-5-5 "deal." We have this other pizza place here that sells large pizzas for 5 bucks, & it doesn't have to be pepperoni. :o The only downside is waiting for it to get made. :-\
By the way, you didn't eat the whole pizza by yourself, did you?
Yes, I did. I usually eat about three fourths of it, and then the remaining fourth I will eat for breakfast or whatever. You can't beat cold pizza for breakfast!

What the heck is white pizza?
via wikipedia:
White pizza (pizza bianca) uses no tomato sauce, often substituting pesto or dairy products such as sour cream. Most commonly, the toppings consist only of mozzarella and ricotta cheese. In Rome, the term pizza bianca refers to a type of bread topped only with olive oil. It's also a Roman style, to top the white pizza with figs, called Pizza e fichi (Pizza with figs);
and I LOVE LONG ISLAND! Now you all will be jealous of the fact I live here:
Long Island, New York, where the pizza is glorified by many residents, has its own regional variation, aptly titled the Long Island pizza, which typically has a somewhat thinner crust. It is also the birthplace of the "pizza bagel", which substitutes bread with a half sliced bagel, while still having normal toppings and ingredients. Traditional New York-style pizza varieties are served at local pizzerias by the slice or full pie. The most popular types include regular (traditional round thin sliced pizza), Sicilian (square with a thick crust), marinara (no cheese, just sauce), white pizza (mozzarella and ricotta cheese toppings, no sauce), grandma (typically square with a thinner crust than Sicilian and the sauce goes over the cheese). There is also a growing choice of gourmet pizza including baked ziti pizza, buffalo chicken pizza, eggplant/chicken parmesan pizza, salad pizza, chicken marsala pizza and shrimp scampi pizza. Small family-owned pizzerias are ubiquitous, as many families traditionally set one day a week as a 'pizza night' when they go to these local family pizzerias on a weekly basis. It is not uncommon for a town on Long Island to have several different pizzerias, each with its own distinct flavor. The Long Island Pizza Festival & Bake-Off is annual competition where mom and pop pizzerias compete to be named best on Long Island.
A Long Island guy invented the pizza bagel, as well. ;D
Oh. Sounds interesting enough. :)
Believe it or not, one slice of penne ala vodka and one slice of white pizza. :D

There's another one I don't like: KFC. I tried to eat some chicken from one about 6 months ago but it was too nasty. The texture of the meat was so soft that I could tell the chicken never used its muscles in any significant way (i.e., caged or crowded), and then just under that layer of crispy skin was this black shit I couldn't figure out. The KFC near here closed down recently after a grease fire. :) I have to admit that I used to love that popcorn chicken.
I try to avoid the fast food restaurants now...it's better for my belt, and I don't trust those big companies to care about providing me quality food.
What a coincidence! I ate at KFC a few hours ago today ;D. Here in Chile it's actually pretty good. A little greasy but I like it that way :P
In my place they say they changed the oil that they cook the food in so there supposedly are no trans fats in the fries and chicken. Is that the same for some of the restaurants near your places? :)

Ooooo. You could never live around here. New Mexico is notorious for its red and green chili. Burns the mouth, the tummy, and the asshole. Sometimes you wonder how a chili pepper could be so hot. I guess it's a plant defense mechanism gone wrong around these parts, since we consume all of it we can get our hands on. But, hey, maybe it worked out for the best since farmers specialize in growing it en masse.

Wow I would love to move to New Mexico right about now. I'm a big fan of chili. My sister went to Mexico last year and brought me some of their chili in bottle and oh man it's so spicy!
:D Haha.
It is said around here tht a chili has to be hot 3 times. Just as you said. ;D
I guess I really couldn't leave there.
As yummy as the stuff may look, after eating a bit I have to drink something, what makes it even hotter on the tongue. :'(

I want to go to Japan next year. March is a bit early, though.
Our child will be born in the end of January. My wife wants to wait at least 6 months before she wants to take the baby into an airplane. My plans are going there around August (if I can save up the money) or December 2008.
Make sure to take lots of pics in Japan. Photos bring back memories really well. :)
And post them here.
Maybe we should make a thread about Japan here in Off-topic. There's so much I'd like to talk about. And we wouldn't have to talk about it in the food section. ;D

Isn't tang what astronauts drink in space? Or is that just a myth?
According to Wikipedia:
Tang was used by the NASA Gemini space program. A NASA engineer working with the Gemini Space Program on a life-support module explains the story of how and why it was used.
Paraphrased:
"... There was a particular component of the Gemini life support-system module which produced H2O (water) among other things. This was a byproduct of a recurring chemical reaction of one of the mechanical devices on the life-support module. The astronauts would use this water to drink during their space flight. The problem was, the astronauts did not like the taste of the water because of some of the byproducts produced, which were not harmful of course. So, they added Tang to make the water taste better ..."
However, Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin has stated that Tang was not consumed on his moon mission: "We... instead chose a grapefruit-orange mixture as our citrus drink. If Tang was on our flight, I was unaware of it."

I wouldn't want to see THAT put to the test.

I had KFC for the first time in ten years... it was delicious. Can't wait for ten years from now! ::)
When I was driving from Washington, DC, to NM, I got hungry and stopped in this little crap town. It had a KFC. I figured it was a safe choice. Got my chicken, and it was the worst thing I'd ever seen -- black inside...chunky blackness. I vowed never to go to a KFC again.

I remember they did that back when I was a kid and it was the raddest thing. I remember the bacon being really good.
Man, do you guys remember the Arch Deluxe? I loved that thing.
They give out more bacon then I thought they would- they usually skimp on toppings...
Arch Deluxe? Refresh my memory what was on it? I DO remember it...just not what it was made up of...
Essentially, it's the same thing as the Big 'n Tasty they sell now except it had this totally awesome "secret sauce" on it, which after my lengthy investigation last year was primarly comprised of mayonaise and paprika.
I hit up Del Taco a few hours ago. I had the following:
1x Macho Taco
2x Crispy Fish Tacos
1x Chicken Spicy Jack Quesadilla

I love DelTaco! The closest one is still like an hour away from me, though. :-\
They just opened a DelTaco in a nearby town. Haven't tried it yet... is it really that good? Is it the rich man's version of Taco Bell?
Actually, I'd say Del Taco is a poor man's Taco Bell.

It's got this dumbass beach scene on the inner bottom and says "Sunshine," "Surf," etc. around the sides. I flipped it over the other day and noticed it says MELAMINE (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_protein_export_contamination) on the bottom. Not sure I should be using it.
If the plastic bowl you're using was made with melamine (typically a melamine resin is used), you may want to consider switching to glass or ceramic. Plastics have many compounds that are released as they are heated or age. Not the least of which are estrogenic compounds/endocrine disruptors, which can lead to a whole host of hormone-related problems. I personally avoid using plastics for food or drink unless I absolutely have to.

Japanese donuts.
Just wondering...what's the difference?
They're made in Japan. :P ;D
Well, there are some special donuts here you perhaps won't find anywhere else, like donuts with green tea "Matcha" flavor.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matcha (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matcha)
The Wikipedia article says its popularity is now on the rise in North America, too. I think JC didn't like it that much (am I right?), but I love it.
Other Japanese donuts are made from rice flour instead of the usual wheat flour.
I never really had a bad donut when in Japan. I think that's 'cause I pretty much only had donuts at Mister Donut:
Those look great :o

Yeah, I really want to learn it too. I mean, mostly so I can read games/websites or anything else I can't run through a web translator. ;)
What would be the best way for a japanese noob, such as turbo D, to learn the language? Should I go to skool for it or grab a book? ???
If you have the possibility, going to a school and learning from an experienced teacher is the best way.
Or, if you're poor like me, buy a ...what are they even called? Er... Language Learning Book. I don't know. It's working for me.
私は女じゃありません!! :P
It's much nicer to use では instead of じゃ.
Stuffed crust cheese pizza from Pizza Hut...or as it says on the box; "The Hut" ::)
I forgot how much I love stuffed crust pizza... now I'm hungry. :'(
I'm satisfying my hunger with some Ritz crackers, particularly the Honey Butter variation.

Chocolate bundt cake
Hello Kitty butter cookies

Went to the Chef's and had:
Barley soup
Green salad w/ Italian dressing
Broiled chicken breast
Baked potato
Corn on the cob
Dinner roll
and a cherry cobbler for dessert!
:D
Cake.
Before that, I devoured a Fish Kabob.
KFC :D
Leftover pepperoni pizza from last night. And a beer..
Cinnamon Toast Crunch
One of those frozen push-up thingies. :P
cheesecake
Chilean plum.
Taquitos and Mountain Dew :P
Cake and ice cream.
Roasted chicken with fries
sweet milk with peanuts -- a weird "soup" I had in Taiwan. Found some at a local market. It was given to me as a breakfast drink option over there but in a bowl with a spoon. So, um...it's kind of a soup.
hmmm... maybe that's where that game got its name from. ???

Alright..get ready for this..
In Japan...
McDonalds sells hot dogs...and corn...
And their commercials are craaaaazy!
..I'll just give you a second to take that in...
And, meanwhile, KFC in America is serving grilled chicken. WTF is that about?
---
Last thing I ate was two Chicken Fiesta Burritos from Taco Bell. I'm still pissed that they took the Spicy Chicken Burrito off their menu...
Another one of those push-up ice cream things.
Grilled chicken doesn't seem like something you'd want to buy in a bucket. I mean it's not like it's KGC or anything. :D

lol, most of my friends dislike Del Taco and Taco Bell too. I love them both though! Today I went to Taco Bell and had the combo #4, which consists of, 2 taco supremes, a Mexican pizza and a Pepsi. It was quite good. :D

Decided to try and eat it using chopsticks. Worked pretty well, but if there's a way to do it without slurping *a lot*, I haven't figured it out yet ;D
It was awesome watching Japanese eat with chopsticks. They sometimes held their bowls really close to their mouths and almost shoved the food in. The Taiwanese were good with morsels. I didn't have noodles except once in Taiwan and that proved difficult for the same reason you mention. But, rice, rice, rice -- for nearly every meal. That was easy.

That's normal. You can see that often in the older Jackie Chan movies.

I remember when I was little, my grandparents had dogs, and my mom was going to get them some dog treats, and she placed them on the shelf. Later that day, it was going to be a surprise, we were going to my grandparents, and I didn't know that though. I saw the Scooby Doo on the package, and my mind came to the conclusion that the package was snacks. I took one out, and started chomping away. I was happily chewing, until I got to the middle. It was kinda gooey, and then I realized that they were for dogs. I just put it back on the shelf, and no one found out. ::)
