I really like it - I find it a great way to indicate new updates or not.
Jay, you could always ad-block the specific image if you really hate it.
I don't want to change it.
It would be sort of fun to think about what alternate pics, icons, emoticons, etc. that we could have in place of the current ones here.
I think the Glass Joe icons are pretty cool, but it could be interesting to change them up once in a while. I realize that could be a lot of work, but hey if someone wanted to rotate in some other iconic 8-bit sprites I think many of us would dig that.
