Hello,
I'd like to share a small project I'm working on. I'm recreating old NES title screens for... well... the NES.
It's just a hobby but I enjoy a lot to do it.
These ROMs aren't interactive and have no sound. They're static screens and I'm only trying to make bigger, more detailed NES graphics for classic games.
If you enjoy this please visit my blog. It's new but I'm adding more stuff everyday: http://mcbremakes.blogspot.com/
You can download all ROMs I've created. I'd love to see photos of my works on your powerpaks.
Hope you like it .
So far I've recreated title screens for three games: Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout, Chip 'n' Dale and Tiny Toon Adventures. See the "before and after" screens:

Wow these look great! Good job.
Geez. I was all like these aren't NES title screens. And then you were all like Here's the ROMs files. Then I was all like :o
No way at all to implement these into the actual game? That sucks..
Life sucks. :P
This is seriously awesome, if only they had chip tunes playing over!
Thank you so much for all compliments :)
I'd love to add music, animations or even find a way to insert these modifications in actual games -- however I have no progamming skills, sorry. :(
By the way I've created an updated title screen for Ghostbusters. You can download it on my blog: http://mcbremakes.blogspot.com/

These are awesome! I thought at first your were just photoshopping the original.
Maybe nesdev can help you out, or someone would be nice emough to try it out themselves.
Wow! Amazing work! :D
Wow, I love all of them!n Great stuff!
Looks Good
Wow! Rockman ROCKS! ;D
Nice stuff.
My only complaint is the lack of ability to put them into playable games...keep it up!
Yeah, that's a shame. (Not so much a complaint)
I'd love having some of these reproduced with those cool starting screens. Especially the Chip & Dale one.
!!RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!!
After 4 months there's finally an update: A title screen remake of "The Simpsons - Bart vs. The Space Mutants".
Hope you like it =D

I don't have a Powerpak but many of my previous works were compatible - so I guess this one will run on Powerpak too.

I'll try to reupload these Roms on a better host (suggestions are accepted)! :)
By the way there are two updates - this time I'm recreating 16-bit title screens on the good old NES.
1) Beavis & Butt-Head (SNES original screen is left image, my 8-bit remake is right pic):

what about github/bitbucket/googlecode/other free code storage?
your files are small binaries, it is possible to store them in the version control system like a git, mercurial, etc.
unfortunatelly i can suggest a typical file hosting, because i don't using them.
My new remakes will be hosted on MediaFire now. :)

Sorry for taking forever to reply (I had some health issues).
I accept requests for sure =D
In fact I want to create a Robocop title screen for a long time - but all my tests failed so far.
However I'm sure that sooner or later I'll be able to create a decent 'Robocop' title screen. :)

Thank you! I'm not good AT ALL - in fact I have no programming / coding skills.
I just love to make graphics and a tool called "Nes Image Converter" does the dirty job (convert my drawings into a .NES file) for me.
It's a nice program and everyone should try it: http://forums.nesdev.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=7363&start=30
Thanks! I am DEFINITELY going to give this a try, do you just create drawings using NES spec restrictions (I've done a couple mockups before)?
OK - gotcha I see it's all outlined in the thread. Genuinely really excited about this! I also subscribed to your YouTube channel, you got yourself a fan.

And please post your work here. I'd love to see your mockups becoming reality :)
If you need a hand to use this software just let me know!
Here's something I made a few years back for a mockup comp on a pixel art thread, should correlate to in-game NES/famicom spec, but easily doable as a still:
(http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/upload/mockup_frenzy/07/L___E___T_FINISHEDMOCKUPTRIPTYCHLEFT.gif) (http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/upload/mockup_frenzy/07/L___E___T_FINISHEDMOCKUPTRIPTYCHMIDDLE.gif) (http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/upload/mockup_frenzy/07/L___E___T_FINISHEDMOCKUPTRIPTYCHRIGHT.gif)
What took time was checking all the tiles. If I can use that program it'll be much easier.

Whoa! Amazing mockup (I love ThunderCats too).
You'll see this program works better with title screens and big drawings (like Tygra's face). With small characters and in-game mockups it's still a little problematic.
But I'll love to see the conversion results anyway! :)

Oh, sorry about your computer. If you want I can try to convert your Thundercats mockups to .NES files.
I used to resize my screencaps using bilinear filtering (they looked less pixelated).
Now I'm not using any filters anymore to let people analyze these pictures more accurately.
A comparision between these two resize methods:

Hey Mac quick question - do you know what mapper these ROMs use? Is there a choice or way to determine to use a specific mapper do you know?
Hi L_E_T!
I guess the ROMs created with this tool (Nes Image Converter) will always use Mapper 4.
As far as I know there's no way to choose an specfic mapper, sorry.
Maybe you should contact thefox (author of this program) for more information.
:o Where were you in 1990? Could have used you as the industries best pixel artist!
Please do Megaman 10 as well!
