Ok hear is the breakdown of what to use on what system depending on what you want to do. I have had many years of experience with these cards, so I can also answer any questions.

If you want to play DS games (NOT 3DS games) on any DS system (DS, DS Lite, DSi and 3DS) you need this R4 card which has been updated to work with all DS system, including the latest firmware on the DSi and 3DS. http://www.r4ibuy.com/2013-r4i-dual-core-white-for-nintendo-ds-dslite-dsi-dsixl-3ds-3dsxl/

If you want to play GBA as well as DS games on a DS system that does NOT have a GBA slot (DSi and 3DS), you need a SuperCard DSTWO, which has a separate independent processor for emulating GBA games. http://www.r4ibuy.com/supercard-dstwo-for-nintendo-ds-dslite-dsi-dsixl-3ds-3dsxl/

If you want to play  GBA games on any GBA system or a DS system with a GBA slot, you need an EZ-Flash iV cartridge. http://www.r4ds-ds.com/products/EZ-Flash-iV-mini-GBA-Card-For-GBA-gameboy-advance-sp-p-239.html

The sites I have posted above sell only genuine cartridges, no bootlegs, knockoffs or fakes.

OMG! :o Thanks, Jessica.

You answered all my questions about DS carts I didn't even ask yet. Too bad the EZ Flash IV is out of stock, though.

You're quite welcome  :D

To be honest, most people who want to play GBA games are simply using their smartphones or a SuperCard DSTWO to play them on their DSi/3DS systems. It's kind of sad, because I still have so much love for my Gameboy Micro  ;D

Here is another known good seller of authentic carts. I know they had them available at the beginning of the year, so I think they are due for a restock fairly soon http://www.realhotstuff.hk/EZ-Flash-IV-Flashcardout-off-stock_p_76.html

Is the R4i Dual Core still a good buy?

They seem to be blasting it at the GBATemp forums here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/r4i-dual-core.310932/

JessicaWolf

It really sounds like they are just arguing over the name of this cartridge. If they wanted to argue semantics, ALL flash cards are knockoffs of each other, since the company that made the original R4 all those years ago is no longer around as far as I know. The 2014 R4i DUAL CORE White is still a perfectly fine cartridge for cheep. SuperCard DSTWO however is still top of the line when it comes to DS flashcarts.

Yeah, I've had my eyes on the SuperCard for myself. But I guess I'll get one for my brother as well. It's not like it's THAT expensive.

JessicaWolf

Mhmm, just be sure to buy from a reputable site like modchipcentral.com or some of the other known good ones. Last thing you want to happen is you get a fake cart which stops working with the next 3DS update.

Can you check this Jessica - I don't think the EZFIV works properly on a DS - mine at least doesn't play properly at all..

I could be wrong about DS compatiblity these days. Hopefilly we will never have to deal with any EZ Flash products, now that the word famous Krikzz of Everdrive fame is working on a GBA Everdrive http://goo.gl/GgwqYS

My brother has been using his EZFlash IV on a DS

By the way, is R4iBuy a reputable site? Does it even matter?

This flashcart comparison chart claims there are no clones for the DSTwo. (and it was updated June of this year)

Ohhh I know what went wrong - my EZFIV works fine on my DS Lite buuuuuut the GB, SMS and GG emulators do not.  That's right I remember now, I guess it's just down to a different system.

Okay, so every site I go to the SuperCard DSTwo is out of stock, and someone said that R4iBuy scammed them so I'm going to avoid that site.

Any idea where I can find that flashcart?
