Found this sale on ebay but was just curious to know what system they are for they look like famicom cartridges but the seller indicates that they aren't so i was just wondering if anyone knew what a Cai System was or whatever system these games belong too?

Yeah those are mine.  They don't run in my Famicom machines, so I don't think they are Famicom carts.  No idea what they were for though.

I can't get access to the article, but this came up via a search for "Lico CAI System" (as seen on the second cart):

http://connection.ebscohost.com/c/articles/9402176778/taiwans-new-system-students
QuoteDiscusses Lico CAI System's educational tool to help teachers educate Taiwanese students; CD-ROM production services from Powersource Computer Systems Inc. and Vanda Union Industrial Co. Ltd.; Ho Indes System from Warmth Publications Inc.

Sounds almost like an educational famiclone.

I have something similar, it was a wii famiclone that also played pirate style 16-bit games like bowling and tennis.

Never got the system to work, still got the cartridge though.

Haha really, these games look really neat and all I'm tempting to buy them my only concern is will I ever find a system that plays these games.

Yeah, I decided to take the listing down for now until we can determine what these things are.  I just opened one up and the carts have 31 pins, and the boards are longer than a Famicom connector, so they don't fit in.

I am curious about that article UglyJoe posted though.

Photo of PCB can help. It might be just slightly modified famiclone.
I don't buy, sell or trade at moment.
But my question is how hackers at that time were able to hack those games?(c)krzy

Almost a year later, but time to close this mystery once and for all.  Check here:

Fascinating. Congrats on finding the system, and thanks for the writeup.

Are there any copyright days on the box? I'm wondering if that article I found was at all relevant.

There is no copyright on the box or instructions, but the unit itself has a copyright stamped on the bottom of it dated 1992.
