Nintendo Eyeglasses?

While downloading the jNES emulator, this appeared on the Google ads. Nintendo eyeglasses? WTF? Could somebody explain please?

All that really is is just regular glasses with a very tiny Nintendo logo on the inside..I've seen one of those exact frames in my optometrist's office, but they didn't have a Nintendo logo anywhere on them..

I've seen Nintendo frames before. I know that they sell them at Walmart optometry, haha.

Do they still sell those? As a kid I'd always wanted a pair, but they vanished from the local Wal-Mart loooooong before I was actually diagnosed as needing glasses.

I'm pretty sure that I have seen them within the past year at my local walmart. I will double check for you next time I'm down there.

I see them all the time at Wal-Mart. Some of them have a removeable Nintendo sticker. It's quite pointless...

Wow, so they are common...
I've never seen them (well I don't really look for branding on eyeglasses, I just get what looks good on me and it's reasonably priced).

I know that Nintendo made a lot of crap, but eyeglasses? Doesn't fit with the other stuff. My crazy theories:

• In order to be the True Ultimate Nintendo™ Wizard you need to get a pair of Nintendo™ eyeglasses with the AWESOME Nintendo Seal of Quality™ on them! I should run to my optometrist's office right now and get some!


• Maybe they're trying to cash on the kids who end up needing glasses because of staring at the TV screen playing video games all day long .

Eh, the glasses I have now are both expensive and awesome My mom buys them for me because I don't have moneiz to spend on anything but fun, useless crap! (and Famicom stuff) Plus the way those frames look, I would get nonstop torment at my school, AND if they saw the Nintendo logo, my little tiny social life would eat itself right out of existence
