GameGenie for the Famicom.

I debated whether I wanted to show off this project. Not sure this will ever become an actual product. It came about after harvesting the chips off of some FDS Ram adapters and wondering what the base could be used for. After thinking for a bit the Famicom Game Genie was born!





Note the bodge wires. I was feeling pretty confident about this design hence the 1.0 designation. However errors were made. Some of them pretty obvious.

really great work. I had been meaning to design a famicom pcb to host the chips from a US game genie for a while, but i was just gonna copy the tower design. It's really innovative to use the FDS RAM adapter parts. It gives more mechanical stability and would probably look better overall. hope I get to see this project finished! keep it up!

Thanks, yeah I couldn't imagine the tower being really stable. I remember always having issues with that with NES carts on my famicom in general. Using the FDS base helps with that a lot. It also gives the opportunity for it to be an NES converter as well.

I still have to figure out where I'm going with this project. I thought about maybe seeing if I could get some game genies and doing a few completed units. Selling the board might make sense but just the parts that would have to be harvested might be a turn off. I have one on my work bench now which was the main goal.

Depends if you wanna make money from the project. If not, then making one unit for yourself and putting the design files up for others would be a natural choice

On the other hand, Game Genie existed on Famicom since the early 90s

It is a good project Muramasa but i dont think is a good idea to harvest a famicom disk system and a game genie due to presevartion but i got a option why dont get some chips to make a custom game genie and a action replay. and for the conector try to desing a made one for more security
